Remembering Lost Love Ones

Recommended Posts

I'm still in the process of debating what to do for a close friend of ours we lost a few months ago- I'm interested to see what people say about this one...

Condolences to all of you who've lost someone close to them. Weddings are an emotional time, and they remind us all of loved ones, who aren't there.

I'm planning to put my parents wedding photo on the guest book table, and I've debating the locket idea for my bouquet... it would be nice to have them with me when I walk down the aisle ( my sister will give me away) . Has anyone done the locket idea, and if so where did they get it done?? Thanks :-)

I'm not doing it but I like the locket on a bouquet. It's very subtle for overly sensitive people like myself.

My only sibling, my older brother, passed unexpectedly a few years back. He will be remembered by leaving a chair empty in the front row. My daughter is the flower girl. She will place a rose on the chair when she walks up. Candles will blow out on the beach so I thought the rose was just as symbolic. I just have to remember not to keep looking at the chair or I'll be an emotional wreck!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My dad passed last year and I saw a neat idea on Pinterest. If you have a piece of your son's clothing or blankie or something, cut a heart shape of it and sew it to the back of your  wedding dress. Put it wherever you like, I am going to do this with a tie of my dads, and I think I will put it up near my shoulder blade, but you could also sew it someplace less obvious if you wanted.

Oh, I have also seen the locket idea on the bouqet and I may do that as well.

Danielleandryan2015, i'm so sorry to hear about your Dad, my Dad passed away in March of this year.

I'm doing something similar with my Mum's wedding dress, I'm taking some of the embellishments( little fabric flowers, that were attached to the sleeves) from her dress and attaching them to my ribbon/waistband. I never really knew my mum, as she passed when I was a toddler, but I'd like to think she'll be with me on the big day, also I'll have my mum and dad's photo's on a locket, to honor my dad too. :-)

@@stefadile Thank you, and I'm sorry to hear of your dad passing as well. Its so hard to lose loved ones and especially when we think of them missing these important events in our lives. But yes, I know they will be with us on our special day!

I am going to put a picture charm on my bouquet. I also want to throw one if my bouquets in the water afterwords. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's been thinking of this

I'll be doing an empty seat with a sign that says "we know you'd be here today, of heaven wasn't so far way" then we'll have the names of out lost lived ones. Which as of now is both of our grandmother's and my sister.

I'm happy that I found this discussion topic.  Sorry everyone who have had losses.

My mother passed away 10 years ago today and I always knew that wedding planning would remind me of her absence and it definitely has.  I have been somewhat at peace with her passing the past couple of years.  I mean I will always miss her, but it seems like this year I am grieving her in a different way because now I am experiencing her absence during a time that is supposed to be so exciting (and it is) but typically shared with your mom and close friends.  I am dreading dress shopping.  I have not gone yet and I feel like I will probably break down.  Part of me feels like I should just get it over with and try not think about it.  I have made 3 appointments so at least I am work through that part.

I do like the empty chair idea.  Sending hugs to everyone.

I bought a bouquet charm for my bouquet that has my moms picture in it. Got it on etsy. Before I found that I had planned to have her picture on the signing table. Hugs

I've also considered having my first dance with my dad the same song he and my mom had at their wedding
