Save The Dates

Good Afternoon Newbies and Vets,

 

How soon is too soon to send save the dates? My wedding date is the beginning of 2016. Thanks for any help:)

I think anywhere from a year to a year and a half is good! That way everyone has time to save up money. we sent ours at 1 year

In my opinion for a destination wedding there is no such thing as too soon

I agree on the year to year and a half. People have such busy lives nowdays, and I find sometimes it's very hard to get anyone to commit to something so far in advance. Different if it's a parent or sibling or bff, but when you start getting into friends or extended family, they may look at the save the date and think "oh we have loads of time" and put it away and not think about it anymore.

I agree, a year to 18 months in advance is fine, any earlier and people will misplace it or forget! OR heaven forbid, your plans change, what if you have to move the date, switch resorts, decide not to do destination, etc. Not to be negative, but details change and if STD is sent too early you may have to re-do anyway.

Thanks for adding that! I didn't want to put anything negative like that out lol  But it's the absolute truth!! Things can change in the blink of an eye!! We want very much to spread the good news and have everyone as excited as the bride to be is, but unfortunately for most people, they're happy for you but it isn't the big deal for them they way it is for the ones planning it all!

Thanks for this thread and all the opinions.. I was thinking about sending mine out this summer (2 years early) but I think I'll wait an additional 6 months
