Weather In September/october

Hi Everyone!

Congrats to you all on your engagements or weddings!  My fiancee and I are thinking of planning our wedding in late September or early October 2015.  I was wondering if there are any brides considering having their wedding at the same time of the year?  And if there are any brides who have gotten married at that time of the year as well.  We want to get married at the melia cayo santa maria and we want to know what to expect during that time of the year.  Also if there are any other people who have been to Cuba or Santa Maria at that time of the year your input would be very much appreciated.

Thanks =)

Welcome to BDW! You'll have a great time on this site with all kinds of ideas and suggestions, and DIY if you're into it as well!

The first thing you need to be aware is that end of September/early October is prime hurricane season in the Caribbean. While there are some areas that have more activity than others, it will probably affect your travel plans if we end up with an active season, which is impossible to predict in advance. Cuba definitely does get hit frequently since they're so close to Florida. Hurricane season doesn't technically end until November 30th. We got married October 20th in Jamaica and were warned ahead of time that we were taking a risk. Definitely something for you to consider.

I don't know anything about Cuba weddings - I'm sure there are other brides that could chime in on that part of it. I've been there just once and for our own personal preference, we won't go back. I'm sure if you check out the Resort Reviews section you will find reviews that will help you out. As well, click on the forums tab and in the search bar type in the resort you're thinking about. If there are any forums about it they will all pop up and you can start reading to see what info you can find.

Of course you can also get in touch with Wright Travel via this site and they could probably provide you with additional information and recommendations.

Good luck and happy planning!!

Thanks for your response!

After doing some research and reading your post my fiancee and I are considering moving our wedding to the last week of November.  From what I read hurricanes rarely form at that time of the year.  I also learned that it rains a lot and is very humid in September and October.  Our anniversary is in the first week of October and we wanted to get married then.  Now we are thinking about getting married on the anniversary of the day he proposed instead.

Very romantic! I was in the same boat, which is why we got married in October. Our anniversary was the 24th and we got married on the 20th, so close enough! The really freaky part - it was second time around for both of us and my husband's first wedding was October 18th! Needless to say when the resort offered us that date I said NO WAY!!! lol

But it all came right in the end and he is most definitely the absolute love of my life! You really can find love a second time around, and when you're older!!

Good luck and happy planning!!
