How Long Does It Take To Get Your Marriage Licence From The Dr?

Recommended Posts

This is a question for brides that did a legal ceremony in the DR. How long did it take you get your marriage certificate from the DR? We are trying to decide on a legal or symbolic ceremony and wanted to know which is easier.

Thanks in advance!

@@DWBride2015 she used to be on the site. Once we got back from her wedding she was unable to access her account. She's pretty upset as she posted all of her DIYs throughout the year leading up to her wedding:(

Hi.

It's been a while since I've been back on this site but since I was scrolling through I noticed this topic. Just a note to future brides, much of the marriage license will greatly depend on your coordinator as you already know. My husband and I got married in PC in 11/30/13 and we had our license in hand by the end of the year. I will say a huge part of that is the fact that our coordinator Carolina at GPPC was adamant that we scan/ send her preliminary documents BEFORE sending copies via post. Why? Because there were some things that weren't done correctly. She sent us back to the embassy and calling our own states offices a couple of times to make sure everything is perfect.

I've heard a few stories about delays, and while that doesn't mean the coordinators were clueless, these folks I know did not have the attn to detail from the coordinator and things were just sent in with a hope and a prayer.

It can take up to 6 months but I've heard from those I know they received theirs in hand within 2 months. I thought the process was easy but after reviewing some of the things we had to do the most that caused the headaches were tiny mistakes. Hope this helps any future brides!

I am having a hard time understanding exactly the documents I need for the legal wedding.

I have our certified copied of birth certificates and know I need to get these translated into spanish. Do I get it translated at the dominican consulate?

I also know that I need a single status affadavid signed before a notary and translated into spanish. Do I need to create this document myself or where can I find it?

Then I saw something about needing an apostille. Does anyone know anything about this!
