Anyone Else Considering Not Having Their Ceremony On The Beach?

Recommended Posts

I’m still undecided. I’ve gone to two DWs before and both locations had their issues. The first one was in Panama and wasn’t on the beach, it was underneath this massive gorgeous tree (that we nicknamed “The Tree Of Life”) but because it was more in the interior of the resort there was no breeze and the poor guys were sweating through their shirts and pants! The second DW was in DR and right on the beach, but it was so windy that the sheers were blowing around and no one’s hair would stay in place! Also, sand was getting everywhere and there were onlookers in all the photos. Personally if my FH has to sweat a bit so that my hair stays in place, I think I’d be fine with that. ;)

I am not getting married on the beach either! I chose to get married in a tropical location for the days surrounding the wedding, not the actual wedding haha.  My TA is scouting out little old chapels off property right now that I'm wanting the ceremony to be held in.  Keep your fingers crossed!

You can do whatever you want girl!  It's your wedding!  And I don't blame you for wanting to wear fabulous shoes.  It's one of my top reasons for no beach ceremony, too!

We're avoiding the beach for our ceremony as well. Althought the thought of it is nice, the practicality of it, not so much. Our resort has a dock with a gazebo at the end of it, our guest list is small enough that we're able to do the ceremony there. I'm only slightly concerned about wind and noise from the water drowning us out... But whatver, I'm not one to stress over every little detail being perfect, we'll make a good time of it no matter what happens. ;)

I hear ya re: shoes - we decided to go with the gazebo option as it overlooks the beach, so we still get the effect, but this way I can wear shoes with my dress and avoid as many onlookers

  • 2 weeks later...

My aunt got married at Secrets Maroma on the beach and I remember there were people that were walking VERY close to the ceremony... that is really something to think about!

I don't want to get married on the beach either. I much prefer the gazebo/rooftop/terrace locations with the beach in the background. I don't want sand to get everywhere - bleh. I think we'll take pics for sure on the beach, but I specifically don't want it for my ceremony. AND of course, to be able to wear heels :)

we had gazebo or beach options ...  took a little bit for my fiance and I to decide.  I always wanted a beach wedding.   But overall we decided to have our ceremony at one of the gazebo's that is located right along the beach.

our deciding factors were:

getting married in June = hot    (wanted shade for our guests and bridal group)

not having our guests have to take off shoes

protection if it does happen to rain during wedding - then we can still have it outdoors.

we will still have the beach and ocean right there to take pictures before and after.

Plus our cocktail hour will be right along the beach and our reception on a terrace with ocean views

The other locations are just as beautiful... If the beach isn't part of your dream, don't do it. I know I want to be barefoot walking in the sand but I'm a bohemian type of gal so it fits me.

I'm sure you will be just as happy in your fabulous shoes. It's still the destination so pics will be beautiful.

I want the tropical setting however, I am not getting married on the beach.  Both of my resort choices (Secrets and Royalton White Sands) have the option to get married in other locations which fits my vision and I can wear shoes.
