No Kids Allowed

We don't want kids at our wedding, at all. No part of me wants kids during my time because I work with kids 10 months of the year.  I love teaching, and I love kids but not at my wedding.  We are planning the week of the wedding to be spent with family and friends, then a week for our honeymoon.

We are trying to avoid all my baby toting BFFs from bringing their poop-producing ear piercing drones. This is where the problem comes in; some are not thrilled that we've chosen an 18+ resort, and have said they'll just stay somewhere else and just bring their kids to the wedding "because I need a ring bearer, flower girl, snot-nosed child at my wedding".  I've tried to explain that children are not allowed on the grounds, but some of my friends seem to think that doesn't include their kids.

How can I politely tell these people that we chose an 18+ resort for a reason and that despite how cute they think their kids are that I have no intention of changing my plans. I realize that I could just not send them and invite, but these are people I've known my entire life, hence why they know about the wedding before the STDs have gone out.

I agree. That's a toughie. Good luck! A suggestion though.... without being quite so blunt lol why don't you look into what is available "elsewhere" for babysitting. Politely let your "BFFs" know that your resort doesn't allow children under a certain age and let them know the information you have found out about babysitting. People can be quite stubborn when it comes to their children, and you will probably find this out when you have your own, but they never, ever think their children misbehave. Believe me - they do!! lol Mine are grown up, 2 of which are step kids, and I have grandchildren. We had an AHR and my husband said no kids. He didn't want me spending more time with my grandbabies than enjoying our party. We were very careful how we told the kids they couldn't bring theirs, and it was fine. They made their own arrangements for care and it all worked out. You do need to be firm with your friends, but be polite too. And if they decide they don't want to be there because their kids can't, then since you're making the decision, you have to be understanding too of the fact that your friends might not be there. Again, good luck!

@@EllDee Just like the others I think this is a hard one! because you aren't just asking someone for one day to leave their children/child behind it for a whole week. Most people only get 2-3 weeks vacation a year and would be using one of their weeks on your wedding. So it makes sense to me just to make this a family vacation as well. Is it possible for you to maybe hire a babysitter for the evening? Send out a post card to the ones wanting to bring their children and state that children under 18 aren't allowed but you have provided a babysitter for the evening? I totally understand you not wanting children at your wedding since you work with them but maybe you can work with the families wanting to bring their children on a vacation as well?

Hi! We also chose a 18+ resort so that there would not be kids! Although I do not teach my job has me around kids constantly. We are in out 30s so a lot of our friends have kids. When we were asked why we chose a 18+ resort we just said we were combining the wedding and honeymoon in to one trip and wanted a kid free environment for our honeymoon. If people were offended they his it well haha.

See if there is a fine or penalty. Inform them if they bring their child, they would be subjected to pay that cost. In addition, it is very disrespectful to you and your future husband. Most people would not want to come out their pocket even more to pay a fine, just to bring their child. Crossing my fingers for you.

I told my one friend if she brought her kid I would never talk to her again LOL. She happens to be my MoH, and I just told her that we plan on doing a week with family and friends and then having our honeymoon without having to switch resorts. She understood and has said that her little gremlin could stay with Grandma. lol
