Difference Between Mayan And Spiritual Ceremony

Recommended Posts

We plan on getting married in Tulum and want an alternative ceremony as we will be legally married in the US. Does anyone know the difference between the spiritual verses Mayan wedding ceremonies? I have looked at videos online and had someone in Mexico explain what happens in a Mayan ceremony. I keep seeing both choices offered and I am confused. Thanks:)

Joyce gave some great information, the Mayan ceremony incorporates rituals and mythology specific to the Maya heritage while the cosmic or spiritual ceremonies are more "universal", calling to nature and the universe to bless the union.

Check out this slideshow of Mayan and Cosmic ceremonies http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/gallery/slideshow/album-17545/
