Royalton White Sands

Recommended Posts

Have you looked at the Jamaica experience package? It includes 1 hour of a steel drum band, private cocktail hour, 2 hours reggae band, and a private dinner and reception. Options for reception are ballroom, pool side or beach with no additional setup fees. All for $1799 It includes 20 people and it's $50 extra per person over the 20 people.

I also decided to do the  Love plus Jamaican experience - for both it is $70 per person over 20 guests.   It gives you more bang for your buck.  However, adding additional hours to the reggae band is a bit expensive....$600 per hour is the price that Ellie told me.  I decided to have the DJ instead for the other hours.

Hi ladies,

I stumbled on this forum last night when looking for information about a wedding vow renewal at the Royalton.

My hubby and i were actually married at this site in 2007 when it was the Starfish Trelawny and decided then that we would go back to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary. Having our first daughter put paid to that idea, we then changed it to our 7th but the second daughter popping along changed our plans again lol. We have now decided that WE ARE doing it for our 10th anniversary in 2017.

After reading all of your posts regarding the prices i have to say i am gobsmacked at them, when we were married we took the flowers with us as they were silk, and just went with the wedding package that was included in the price we paid.

We did book a table at the a la carte restaurant that was there at the time which was nice as the total amount of people that were there including the two of us was a whopping 13 lol, we had the hotel photographer and as we decided not to go with the holiday operator prices that were being charged for them we made a deal with the photographer that if we were asked by the operator if we purchased the wedding pics and said no he would supply them at half the price but only on disc that we could print at home, he was an absolute star. Granted the 10 hour flight home was nerve wracking wondering if i had been had but am happy to say that every picture that was taken at our wedding was on the disc and printed at every size needed.

For our renewal there will only be myself, the hubby and both of our daughters there no family this time (way too much stress last time lol plus my mam has sinced passed)

Im now wondering if they actually do a renewal option that is basically just the use of the little gazebo near the beach where we were married in 07 and the photographer, we dont need a wedding package and are not bothered about a reception afterwards as we did all that the first time.

Please could the lovely lady that started this thread please email me if possible the info in her very first post? My email address is [email protected] thank you and i hope that all of you are not fretting to much about your big days and that they are everything yhat you have dreamt about xxx

Hey linzip,

Just emailed you everything - best wishes <3

Pam

@pamelas21 , Yes I was at the Riu Tropical Bay Palace. I switched beacuse they were seriously being  unreasonable, with the private beach reception prices. Also, many of my guest have a 5 hour flight already, and the resort is an hour and a half away from the airport. And after I saw how beautiful the Royalton was I was hooked !

Also, Yes, I am having a private reception, I want it on the beach however. I know the setup is $300, not bad at all. Yet,  I will admit I am a little concerned about how much that will tally up to be. After the per person charge for all the extras.

Thank you for your encouragement, I really need it. I am so excited , I can't wait to be in paradise for a week.

Hey! No problem at all.....in the near future after all this is done we'll look back and wonder why we stressed so much! lol

Hi Pam and ladies,

I am so indecisive and wanted to see what your thoughts are!

Don't you think Pam should get into wedding planners business? haha

@atennile- your wedding is in May 2015- how did you choose this date?

I was looking at a February date but it was spring break. My sister is still in university so I'm torn between a January 2015 wedding or May 2015 wedding.

Jan 2015
2pm wedding so it would be a busier beach and not as ideal sunlight for photos and people in the background? (4pm not available)
nice weather and almost no chance of rain
a great time to escape cold Calgary weather
a longer gap between ceremony 2pm and 7pm reception

May 2015
4pm wedding so smaller gap to 7pm reception
May is 40-60% chance of rain, and may occur later in afternoon, could affect ceremony
Hotter and more humid
more time to buy wedding dress

THANK YOU!

Hey Theresa! You're so sweet! Thank you! :)

Picking your date is a tough one!

You've looked up May weather and it actually says 40-60% chance of rain? In the afternoon? for the whole month?

I didn't know it rained that much in May!

I looked up November for myself when we were first picking a month and I found out November gets 7 days of rain total....fingers crossed it doesn't rain on my day!

I honestly don't know!

What do YOU really want?

Honestly whatever any one of us chooses we always run the risk because we're all having outside weddings.....

Let us know what you decide!

Pam

@happywedding2015 , I choose May because it's not to hot, and it's the month of Mother's Day. I need to do some more research about the rain, and did not know that. From ehat I did see it seems the weather is pretty nice in May.

Morning ladies,

I received more info from Laura!

Here’s some other questions I’ve asked her:

Do we have to pay the $300 private event fee twice for the wedding ceremony and reception? NO – there is no fee for the ceremony setup. Just the reception.

Can you tell me if the spa at the royalton does airbrush makeup? They do not.

If I wanted to host a dinner at Zen – could they hold us? If not, what the max they'll reserve for? No they can’t. The most we can do is a reservation for 8.

For the wedding reception - I will need dinner for one photographer and two videographers…..plus the DJ – do you set up a table for them? Four men total….We can have a vendor table yes. We can offer a vendor meal instead for them.

Vendor meals we can do just an entree for even - $20 USD per person if you would like!

On the beach, what would you recommend for lighting? And how much? I would appreciate recommendations and photos if you can. I honestly don’t know what to do regarding lighting! I don’t have any photos right now, BUT I would recommend wrapping the palm trees in twinkle lights at $65 USD per tree and then you can do white lanterns like the following around the area for $30 USD each. I’ve attached the photo ladies – it’s flipping ridiculous! $30 EACH! :S

We’ll definitely be going with a DJ. Does your DJ have a website I can check out? And can you confirm the price? The wedding guide has 2 different prices – one under Entertainment and one under Equipment rentals. I’m looking for 6pm to 11pm. The accurate price is $220 USD per hour. I have had this updated in our guide, my apologies for the error. In regards to the DJ, this is the vendor that we use: http://jamaicaweddingdj.com/

For cocktail and reception - What is included with set up in terms of table linens and napkins? Is anything included?

Cocktail: small cocktail tables with white linens included. Reception: Rounds seating 8 with white linens + white garden chairs.

I also asked her for the Spa Price List – I’ve attached it plus the lantern photo – still can’t believe those are $30 each to rent!

Hope this helps some of you!

Share any info you can! We all appreciate it! <3

Pam

So I emailed Lauren today to ask about the $70 makeup artist fee for in room and she told me that is no longer the case!?!?!!?

"Thank you very much for your email. Unfortunately our vendor policies have become quite strict and this is no longer an option. It would be $450 USD to have any vendor come on property."

THAT IS CRAZINESS!!!! how can you force a bride to get her makeup and hair done by your spa!?!??! it's her big day for crying out loud.

What do all the lovely ladies here plan on doing?

Margaritaville sounds like a fun idea! Although I think quite a few of my guests would be a little mad at me if I suggested an activity off the resort that makes them pay for food and drinks when they get those free at the resort

Btw, I saw on another forum that to insert a pic into a post, you use the Image link (under the smile face) instead of attaching the file. You have to have the picture uploaded into your gallery, but then you can use the Image Link of the picture (available on the picture's page under Options).

So here we go...here is a snapshot of the save the dates that I made for our wedding. Let's see if it works.

You made these!?!? That's amazing. How did you manage to do all that?

@@happywedding2015, where did you see the 40-60% chance of rain in May with the chance of rain more likely in the afternoon? I would love to have more information about Jamaica's April weather so I can better prepare myself! However, the comment about January having almost no chance of rain is pretty different than most of the things I have seen. For example, using the weather2travel website for Montego Bay (http://www.weather2travel.com/climate-guides/jamaica/montego-bay.php), it shows 8 days of rain in January (2.9 inches) vs. 12 days of rain in May (6.2 inches). So yes, May is more likely to have rain but January is not guaranteed to be rain free. Just want to make sure you have all the information when selecting your date! :)

@@Shar3L, when your makeup artist arrives at the resort, I wouldn't advertise that they were there to do your makeup. I think if you just tell the front desk that they are a friend there to visit you, they would only have to pay the $70ish fee to get on the resort for the day. Then, if they are doing your makeup in your hotel room, there is no reason the hotel would need to know they are a "vendor."

Also, thank you so much for the compliment on my save the dates! I designed them myself in Photoshop, bought some thick metallic paper, printed them out on my home computer, cut them out using my work's paper trimmer, used a corner cutter to round the edges, and then bought a perforating tool for <$10 to make the perforations. It was a lot of work (and took much more time than I expected), but I only had about 50 to do so I think it was worth it :) Although now I have to start on the invitations soon...

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to find much information on this resort either! I have been in contact with Laura, a wedding coordinator at the resort, and she wasn't able to send me any photos of the reception areas as they haven't hosted many weddings yet. She said she would email me photos as they host them and I will pass them on to this forum!

Hey ladies,

Not sure if everyone has seen the reception options. I posted them in my gallery. :) Happy planning!
