IzzyDeee
Hello ladies!! I have tons of questions since I am getting married May 6th, 2015!! We are getting married at the Riu Montego Bay in Jamaica and we are beyond excited ????! Our wedding color is an eggplant purple since my wedding dress is ivory with gold embroidery. What type of flowers would look the best? (I have posted pictures of the bridesmaids dresses and the groomsmen outfits as well in my gallery! Take a look ????) Are there any hidden costs any brides could possibly warn me about as well? We are getting married at the plaza gazebo and have rented the steakhouse for a private dinner/reception as well. I have around 40-50 guests coming so is it ideal to rent a microphone during the dinner for speeches? And how does the music work?! Do I need to prepare a CD of our first dance~ Lady in my life by Michael Jackson ~ as well as the from & mother dance and uncle niece dance( since I am adopted by a single mother)? And if anyone has a song for that dance with my uncle I'd love to hear them!! How are the hair stylists at the Riu? Where they able to do what other brides requested for their hairstyle or were there difficulties? If anyone has pictures please share!! Thank you for the help ladies and gents!! ☺️☺️☺️
jenmasters
IzzyDeee I am doing my second week in Jamaica for my honeymoon at the Riu in Montego!! You will have to share how it is! I love your pics, amazing finds. We are doing similar, more lavender/lilac with grey and a couple pops of lime green. As for hidden costs, just ask and keep asking the resort. I like having everything in writing for backup. I am getting a "free wedding" at my resort but because I want a fully private reception I am paying $2,500 USD. That's for 4 hours of private resturaunt, the dinner, cake, service, DJ, Dancing, Mic etc etc. We have about 50 guests so I didnt want to do my reception in a semi private setting. I know at the Bahia, we are to make everything on CDs.
IzzyDeee
For sure I can let you know!! @@jenmasters We did the caprice package with the private dinner . We were actually forced to do the private reception since we have close to 50 guests as well! Our cake comes with our package but we may decide to go bigger since it's our desert after the dinner! I was thinking of just putting it on CDs just in case anyways, just to be extra safe LOL! Feel free to check out my planning thread also to see what we kinda have going on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited March 18, 2015 by IzzyDeee

Francine Braham
hey Francine, a great way to avoid much of the stress would be to hire a wedding planner, like acw said, most know what they're doing lol... i got married in Jamaica recently and opted to do all the shopping around myself... in my opinion, YES!, you would definitely avoid much of the cost associated with resort packages by booking the vendors yourself. My wedding photographer was Courtney Chen, he was recommended to be by a friend and i'm glad i went with him, his work speaks for itself, he has a face book page and you could Google him. If you're also shopping around for a Makeup Artist i could recommend Charlie Montag Makeup Artistry, i had a few trials with a few other MUA's before coming across her website. she was excellent, price point was fabulous and very professional. i had 9 bridesmaids, along with my mother and my mother in law and she was nothing short of amazing... check her out if you're still shopping around for vendors https://www.facebook.com/CharlieMUA .........My decorations were done by Nishy Weddings, i think they have a website so you could also try googling them as well... overall, my budget was $5,000 (USD) and it came well under that.. That is awesome Samantha!! How much guests did you have at your wedding? Did you do buffet or seated dinner? Thanks for the references. Please share a few pics, if you don't mind. I'm glad your day was beautiful and well under budget.
Julande
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie even though I have been a member since 2014. My FH and I were researching so many resorts and have narrowed down our options to Royalton White Sands and Iberostar Grand Hall Suites. We are expecting about 100 guests. We would like our budget to be $10000.00 including our stay. Do you think it is realistic?
beckys98
Hi @@Julande - Where will you be traveling from? Your packages will be a little different if you're coming from Canada versus the US. I'm an American bride getting married at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites with 65 guests and we'll be closer to $15-$18k all in. There are always places you can cut back, but Iberostar Grand will be more expensive than Iberostar Suites too. Congrats! Hi everyone, I'm a newbie even though I have been a member since 2014. Julande
Hi @@beckys98 - I am an American bride as well. I meant to say Iberostar Rose Hall Suites, not the Iberostart Grand. I'm so nervous, I just want everything to be beautiful and fun on a $10000.00 budget lol. What made you decide on Iberostar Rose Hall Suites? Congrats
beckys98
@@Julande - Here were the things that put us over the edge on IRHS: - Family friendly (we have nieces and nephews coming) - Proximity to the airport - even though we really WANTED to be in Negril, the 90 minute transportation time would be a burden on our guests who are only coming for 3-4 nights. But also it is in between Negril and Ocho Rios so it is a good location for excursions to other parts of the island as well. - They only do one wedding per day! - I have never seen a single bride on here or other review sites have anything less than a glowing review! - Some of the other resorts we looked at had RIDICULOUS charges for extras like chairs, the DJ, private dinners, etc. All resorts charge extra for stuff, but Iberostar is reasonable. I can send you some of the pricing information if you don't have it. We were also looking at Royalton White Sands and could easily have picked that as well - my fiance ultimately picked between the two and it was mostly a gut feeling! More than happy to answer any other questions about IRHS. My wedding is 6 weeks from TOMORROW!!!!
