I think you mom walking you down the aisle and the first dance with your brother in law is a good solution.  Sorry your dad can't make it.  My fiances dad can't make it either

I have a similar situation as you, but a little different. My Mom and Dad had both planned to come to the wedding. We have 2 1/2 months until the wedding date and they have just told me now that they do not have enough money to send both of them, so my Dad will not be coming. It has caused a very uncomfortable situation with my family as we have never taken a trip together in my life and this was supposed to be our opportunity to do that. Also, I asked them twice in the last year if they would have any trouble paying the trip costs and they said it would be fine.

 

My mom says she would walk me down the isle, but I told her my Dad should be the one to do it and since he isn't coming I'll be walking by myself. I think since your situation hasn't caused much trouble in your family that having your Mom walk you is an option. But don't forget you can also walk yourself

I am right there with you - My Dad is not attending my wedding in Jamaica for various reasons.  We have a pretty good relationship and he loves my fiance, so it's pretty difficult.  I have known this for quite some time now so have gotten over it the best I can.  I am going to have my mom walk me down the aisle and I won't be doing a dance (obvi!).  The one thing that I'm having a hard time with is figuring who should be my mother's escort during introductions - I don't have any brothers or male cousins...gotta figure that one out!

Do you have a godfather that could walk you down? That would be another option

Sorry about your dad. I agree, pick someone who is important to you.The brother in law sounds like a good option! Or like you said your mum!
