Wedding Dress Alteration For Heels

Hi!

I'm currently getting my dress fitted for our wedding at Manchebo Resort in Aruba! Our ceremony will be on the beach, so I will be barefoot. However, our reception will be under a gazebo, so I plan on wearing 4-inch heels. Has anyone else gotten married barefooot, and then wore heels for their reception? 

 

My question is, what length am I supposed to alter my dress? Am I supposed to alter it to the length of me being barefoot, or me wearing heels? I don't want the dress to be too long while I'm walking down the aisle and risk tripping! Is it weird to have my heels show if my dress is too short? HELP!

Hi. I did things the other way around lol I got married in heels, then switched to white "Bride" flip flops afterwards so I was worried about tripping over my dress after the fact. the way they hemmed my dress was a little "shorter" for my heels, which were open toed gold sandals, in the front and shortened the train just a bit so that when I bustled my dress after the ceremony it was a tiny bit longer than the front. it worked ok in that it was short enough that I didn't trip in the flip flops but it was still long enough that it did get dirty around the bottom unfortunately. my open toes showed just a little walking down the "aisle" but still looked nice. if you're doing coloured heels, it should be fine if it's just a tiny bit shorter so that you don't trip while you're barefoot. hope that helps....

@@acw271011 - Thanks for the advice! I'll try asking to get the front a little shorter and have the back longer. I love my heels so I definitely don't mind if they pop out a little bit!

same here.  barefoot for ceremony... unsure about reception.

 

always wanted the something blue shoes.  was thinking about a kitten heel?

I had the same problem, until I found my dress! It is a high low gown, so the length can stay the same regardless! I'm planning to wear heels all the way, but I'm bringing a gorgeous pair of sandals in same color as heels (royal blue and silver), just in case my feet ache to much...

I am having my dress altered to fit me barefooted (as that is how I will be walking down the aisle).  For my reception I am taking advantage of this being a beach weeding and wearing 3 inch wedges and I don't thin anyone is going to notice my the length in the dress.
