Is it really that bad going through customs

Why is there a problem bringing wedding stuff through customs??

Hi Guys,

 

Mexican customs is not really a problem. It's just that the lines are long, plus the process is slow and somewhat arbitrary. After you pass Immigration, you go to the Customs Lane. If you get a green light you go through to the outside. If you get a red light, then they stop and search your bags.

 

Personal items including wedding items are exempt from Customs duties but some things could have another classification. Some items for your OOT bags such as Tylenol or Advil packets could be classified as medications and subject to duty. Best to have your receipts to show the value and then it can be covered under the $300 per person exemption. Note: I have read where the personal exemption was raised to $500 but I still see $300 on some websites. I guess if we are unlucky enough to get a red light, then I'll find out.

 

I am always one to prepare for the worst and then be happy when it's not so bad.

It's almost time!!!!!!!    I am at work rihgt now taking a break from dsome major project finishing.  I'll be gonw for three weeks and I said no laptop - deal with it!!

I just finished my seating cards and the little medicine kits for the OOT bags. I also completed the wrapping for the sarongs that I am giving all of the ladies!!

Just got my travel documents and airport transfer vouchers from the TA. Now, I feel like we are leaving soon. . So happy and excited!
