Legal License In The States

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I are getting married in May in Cabo....very excited. We are only having a ceremony down there and legally getting married here in California because I don't want to go through all the trouble down there (blood tests, translations etc.). My fiance and I are ok with that too.....our question is is this. How many days in advance should we get "pre-married"?. I know you have to show your "legal" license when you get a ceremonial wedding. I don't want to get married a month in advanced if I don't have too. I was thinking a week or 2 n advanced. My fiances' sister is a ordained minister and would probably do the legal one her as well as the ceremonial one in Mexico.....we don't know.

I thank any suggestions and comments.

I don't think you have to show proof of marriage if it is just a symbolic ceremony. I was going to get legally married in mexico too but changed my mind due to the cost and stress of translations fees etc. I am thinking of doing it the day before we leave

I'm doing the same thing...getting actually married in Aruba is expensive and it is just easier to do it at home.  We have decided that even though we are actually getting married in the states on a different date, we are going to make the date in Aruba our date we celebrate.
