****tulum Brides 2014****

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I thought I would start a thread for all those getting married in Tulum 2014. We are trying to set our date for December 20th 2014 and am in the process of deciding on venues. It would be great to share ideas and tips for every aspect of wedding planning in Tulum. My top choice at the moment is Akiin Beach Club so would love to hear from anyone who has had or is having their wedding there and who you chose for vendors etc. I would also be interested to hear about the food at Akiin!

Hope to hear from you!

Hi Hannah,

Congrats!

I am also a Tulum bride and guess what? Getting married at Ak'iin Beach Club this April!!!

What can I tell you is that I couldn't have asked for anything better than this venue.  We went to visit the premises back in September and we had an amazing experience.  The food it's to die for! It is made by their executive chef at Alux restaurant in Playa del Carmen, and their staff is super fun - lovely ladies!

It is a bit pricey, but all worth it imo.  We're having cocktail and dinner, the only thing they don't cover is the liquor - so you gotta pay for a corking fee and find your booze from an external vendor.

The location is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Here are some photos we took.  Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I will do my best at answering them.

By the way, I am Mexican and did loads of research in the area to get the best location for my wedding... At first we thought resort, until I started thinking about all other options and this one was the winner!  All beach club for yourself, any external vendor you want for no extra charge. Private location, exclusively for you and your guests. No brainer!

Hi MrsJager

Great to hear from you and congratulations to you too! We have now booked Akiin and i definitely agree with you that it is a great choice of venue for so many reasons. The food in your photos looks so good which is so important to us. Now we can help each other with the planning! How far have you got? Are you using a wedding planner?

Hi ladies,

I'm getting married at Be Tulum in May and am happy to see other 2014 Tulum brides on here!  I think we'll have around 60 guests, though it's still hard to estimate, even 4 months out. We also visited Akiin, which was beautiful - congrats!

I'm also interested in hearing which vendors you are using and will share some of mine below.  I also found the rundown from "EssandPea" after her wedding at Las Ranitas incredibly helpful when I was starting to plan.

Venue - Be Tulum.  We had to guarantee rental of all 20 rooms for the wedding weekend, but we are just in love with the location.  They also have an on-staff wedding planner, Daniela, who has been wonderful (otherwise we would have used Fresa Weddings - Kristee was so professional and nice).  Daniela has recommended vendors and will also be our day-of planner.

Reception Food/Drink - Be Tulum, which we tried when we were there in September and it was amazing!  We're doing a cocktail hour, then mexican buffet and open bar

Videographer - We're going with Blue Lens Caribe.  We decided on 1 photographer for 4 hours,  hopefully it'll be enough time.

Photographer - We're bringing our own from LA (gulp!) - Epic Imagery (Danny Baker) - who takes stunning photos. This was one of the most important things to me, so I bit the bullet.

Welcome Dinner- We wanted something fun and casual, so we decided on the sunset bar at Mateo's.  We're doing tacos and open bar for this.

Best of luck to everyone in their planning as well!

Hey girls! I'm super new here!  My fiance and I got engaged in August, and have finally decided we are doing destination.  We have narrowed our search down to Paradisus La Esmeralda and Dreams Tulum.  I have gathered all the information and priced out everything at La Esmeralda, but I'm waiting to hear back from DT.  I was just about to book the other resort, and panicked at the last minute and decided to see how far my $ could go here, considering my sister was married at Dreams Puerto Aventuras 3 years ago and it was amazingly perfect.  Is there anyone on here that could PM/email me specific pricing info so I don't have to wait for the resorts response.  Thanks again!  KimAshworthRN@@gmail.com

Congrats, Kimmy!  I came across this forum when I was doing my research - it's all Dreams Tulum brides - so maybe they'd be able to help you!

Hi guys

Good to hear from you!

KimmyA, we are looking at blocking rooms at Dreams Tulum to have our guests stay there. Congratulations!

HoyaBeth, congratulations to you too! and thanks for the information. Be Tulum is so beautiful. I would love to know what music you have chosen for the wedding? I would love some live music for the ceremony and the reception/party so would love any recommendations.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Hannah,

It's nice to finally have a Tulum forum to participate in! :)

I think we're going to use a trio called Bole for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then use a DJ for the reception.  When we were there in Sept, we heard Bole play and thought they were awesome - they have a violinist, guitarist and percussionist.  I'm sure they can play beautiful, "traditional" music for the cermony and I liked the fact that I had already heard some of their upbeat stuff that would be perfect for the cocktail hour.  We're going with PlugIn Audio Visual for the DJ part (recommended by our planner and get good reviews).

Have you made any vendor decisions yet or is it still too early?  Have you been to Akiin yet?  (If not, you'll love it - we also checked it out and thought it was amazing!)

Hello ladies, and congrats on your upcoming Tulum weddings! My husband and I were married at El Bistro Ziggy Beach at The Beach & Cabañas Tulum Hotels. The venue and hotels were great, and the staff there are amazing! Every time we go back we feel like family.

We actually live down here in Playa Del Carmen, and Tulum is our favourite place along the entire coast. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have, as I have spent quite a bit of time down there, as well as lots of time researching all the venues. You can see our engagement and wedding photos in my signature, both of which were in Tulum. (Both the town and the beach)

We also just got our wedding video that our friend put together for us, if you'd like to get a feel for the area! He really captured the feeling of Tulum with the video. The song we chose was written by a musician that spent two months down there living in a tent, so the song really feels like the area as well.
