So I have finally narrowed down my resort to playacar palace my only concern with it is the photography, this is very important to me I have noticed on the website if I bring my own photographer they will charge me $500. A friend of mine is a fantastic photographer and IIwas thinking about paying for her trip to take pictures all week but I dont want to pay for her trip down there is I have to pay another $500 on top of it. Can someone please help with this decision! Do they actually charge that ? Do I have to use their photographer?

welcome soon2BePerry,

it is true, if your photographer is a guest of the resort they do not need to pay the outside vendor fee.

One concern of bringing your own professional photographer from home is the airport customs, and legal requirements. A professional photographer cannot just come into Mexico and work without the legal paperwork or permission.

All luggage is scanned, and anyone carrying professional equipment (or has more than one camera body, lens or flash)  is stopped and pulled aside to explain their luggage.

Our premier photographer is stopped and checked every time he enters Mexico - luckily he has all the legal paperwork and is licensed to work here!

Is it really worth taking the risk of ruining your wedding trip by having your photographer from home denied entry - and then how do you find another photographer at the last minute - or ???

There are so many fantastic professional wedding photographers available here - the key is to find the one whose work resonates with you and touches your heart - they'll create the photo memories you'll cherish your whole lifetime!!! priceless :)

That's interesting! I've never heard that one before... what's the difference between "professional" equipment and just fancy cameras that many of my guests will bring?
