Nightlife in Punta Cana

Recommended Posts

Is anyone familiar with the nightlife in Punta Cana? We are thinking of doing our Bachelor/Bachelorette parties during our wedding week next May. Has anyone been off the resort at night - is it safe? How is the public transportation... is there a bus route near the resort 'strip' or are taxi's the only option? We are staying at Ocean Blue & Sand. I have been on the pub crawls in Cancun which were awesome, are there any promoters that do events like this in PC?

Hello Heather!

I live in Punta Cana/Bavaro Area, I am a local girl.

It is safe to go out the resort at night, the only thing  there is not public transportation at night and even during the day is difficult to catch the public buses. They cost 40 dominican pesos which is around 1 dollar (it depends of the exchange rate that they use).

There are a few discos and bars in the area, the concierge personal in you hotel can give you some advises or helping you with that. The most popular discos are:

Oro at Hard Rock Cafe - Is nice and big, but far form everything and a expensive. You can find a representative for this disco in your hotel that sell you the tour

Jewel in Palma Real Shopping Mall- Big, nice, easy to find.

Imagine -  Is  a disco in cave. You can also can buy the excursion with transportation with and without open bar.

Mangu - Is one of the older discos in Bavaro, but still nice, lot of local people there.

Then ther are bars like the Pub in Cap Cana, Dannys Bar in Bavaro, Liquid, Huracan Cafe, Soles (by the beach) etc

The locals go to liquor stores that have dancing and table areas, so can dance and the drinks are more affordable.

Hope this help you.
