Jeanette & Jay's Rockin Moon Palace Wedding! (Tight Budget Planning Journal)

Recommended Posts

Location: Moon Palace in Cancun

Wedding Day: 7/7/14 (math nerd in da house!)

B&G Stay: July 3-July 10, 2014

Guests: Hopefully 57 (40 adults/17 kids) - 20 Rooms

Wedding Package: Complimentary (We hope to have 75 room nights, so that we can have FREE unlimited private events)

Theme: Day of the Dead Rockabilly Beach Wedding (we are not the "traditional" beach bride and groom, but this is going to be our DREAM wedding)

Ceremony: Symbolic Ceremony @ Bougainvillea Gazebo - 4PM

Minister: My brother in law

Add-ons: Carriage Ride, Sand Ceremony, Itinerary Fans, Custom Maracas, Bubbles, Rose Petals

Decor: DIY Painted Parasols, Rose Petals

Bouquet: DIY (Thanks to pinterest)

Bridesmaids: Red Dress (their choice!)

Reception: Bougainvillea Terrace

Photographer: One of our guests

Music: Mariachi for an hour and then an Ipod with docking station (I heard it's free...so we are cheap and are gonna play our own music!)

Reception Extras: We are going to stick with basics, get a buffet, not sure which one yet

Reception Decor: My family has an Etsy shop and they make custom Papel Picado and other goodies (vintagebabydoll and calaverapress), so we'll have some of that, as well as custom paper lanterns with battery op candles. (Simple, but fun!)

Reception Pics: We are going to have a family member take our pics, but we are also going to have a make-shift photobooth with an instant camera, props and a photo album that will double as our guestbook.

Reception Fun: After our dinner, mariachi, and ipod dancing, we are going to have every family release a water lantern into the ocean to wish us good luck and then we plan on going to the Noir nightclub to keep dancing and drinking (we love to drink....er and to dance!)

Out of Town Bags: This is where I feel like I can go a bit overboard...I love my awesome family (that is literally traveling from all over the world to go to our wedding) so we might make the wedding portion as economic as possible, but as for their gifts, I HAVE to go all out! Soooooo, I am a DIY Queen! I'm going to make my own oilcloth beach bags for each family. Inside, it will include a welcome booklet, custom mug for each adult & tumblers for the kiddos, custom mints, key card holders, out of town goodies (sunscreen, aloe vera, advil, sewing kit, insect repellent, etc.) and anything else that I conjure up!

Here are our invitations that just went out on Tuesday!

I asked my TA and she said that we could and that I should just contact the WC at MP (copy her) to make sure it actually happens. The WC sent me back a copy of the "contract" that I don't have to sign until the final planning process starts with my actual WC. It shows on there that we are booked for that location. We tried to book the Tucan Gazebo and Terrace, but it was already booked! (INSANE and that was like 4 months ago when we tried) - So I suggest you try to book as far in advance as possible! You can always make last minute changes, if you have to! Good luck!

That template was AWESOME! A little frustrating since I'd never used Illustrator, but I figured it out and got them done!

I shall post more as soon as I start getting my DIY projects done!
