Jamaica Photographer/Videographer recommendations

Hello,

 

We are getting married at Hummingbird Hall in Montego Bag on 5/24/14.  I don't want to use just any old photographer.  Any recommendations for photographer/videographer in Jamaica.  I am hoping not to have to give a kidney to pay for them either.  If you've had a Jamaican wedding and have pics, please share!

Hello fellow brides,

 

Just wanted to make you aware of an issue I am having with a vendor that was referred to me through word of mouth on this site. I used Robert Dunkley and DVS video for my wedding in June. He was a pleasure to work with before and during the wedding, However I have not heard from him since my wedding day, and he is not answering any of my calls or emails. I have also been hearing that he is doing the same to other brides as well. I am pretty sure that he took my money and ran. I have even gone as far as contacting him under a fake email claiming to be a bride trying to book his services, he got back to me right away and was trying to have me book him. Once I confronted him and told him who I was he dropped all communication again. I am heartbroken over this issue because not only did I lose a big chunk of money but I also lost alot of memories that he captured,. I wanted to warn you all so you do not have to go through the same thing I am dealing with.

Boston Linkat, check out Roan Robinson with Candid Expressions Photography. He's based in Negril but travels island wide & his prices are reasonable plus has great work. I'm sure he can also recommend a videographer ... Good luck !

Hello Ladies! I got married at the RIU MoBay in August 2013. My husband has family in Jamaica so we hired a local photographer who was known by his family and he was amazing!! The photographer was Jermaine (aka Flex) and has worked as a photographer at other hotels in the area.  He took awesome pictures and all my guests loved him bc he was so personable, friendly and got everyone going. He edited some of our pictures and then put them and all the others on a USB key (which I gave him). When we returned home there was not much work to be done to them except to pick and choose which we liked the best (and that was difficult bc so many great shots) and get them printed .  His price was very reasonable especially considering what the hotel wanted us to pay.  He was with us from the morning all the way to the end!!  Of course you will need to negotiate with him pricing bc I am sure it is different for what everyone wants.

I am getting married at Riu Montego Bay in April.  Yes, please share your photos.  I am looking for a good photographer and thought the prices of the photographers suggested by Riu were overpriced.  I'm really excited to see pics from the same resort I'll get married at. Also, any thoughts on which ceremony location to choose?

Merrick is fabulous! He did my wedding in October 2011. He is lovely to work with, will contact you very quickly and is pretty reasonable for pricing. He will go anywhere in Jamaica but lives in Kingston. I would highly recommend him!!

My wedding was 3 weeks ago . i used Dwayne Watkins and i can say that he was AMAZING!!!! i can't brag enough about his work. SUper friendly and professional. He also help make sure that my wedding ran smoothly! My opinion from my experience is make sure you have a great photographer, whoever you decide to go with. don't listen to people when they say don't waste your money. at the end of the day, all your guests, decor, experience will only be remembered and captured if you have a great photographer. That should be one thing that you spend money on! your day goes by so fast, like seriously way too fast.

We are by no means MODELS, but you may think we are from our photos lol it still amazes me when i look at them :-) you can see some of my wedding pics on his site. you can also see my instagram page, i've posted some of those pics and you can see how many comments and likes it has received, from people i don't even know. I will do a review this week on everything, be sure to check it out and hopefully it can be helpful for you based on what i experienced!

 

Also, he uploaded these pics to his blog website a few days after the wedding :-) I haven't received the remaining pics yet but he informed me that they will be in soon.
