Have you won anything for your wedding?

I'm just curious... have any of you ladies won anything for your wedding? Blog giveaways, from bridal shows, etc. etc.? If so, what did you win and from where?

The past month I've been trying to devote a little bit of time to entering and always considered myself one of those people who "never won anything." But, I've won quite a few... veil, some pretty jewelry, custom favor bags, a gift certificate towards decor... etc.  I think the payoff has been well worth the time! Since I'm watching my budget carefully-- every little bit helps! I haven't won any huge ticket items yet like a gown or honeymoon... but maybe someday? A girl can hope!

So tell me, have you won anything for your big day? :)

Oh wow! Congrats on all your winnings! Funny story. I never win anything either. I went to my first bridal show and signed up for anything and everything. I get a call from a photographer saying that they picked my name out and I had won a photography package worth $1500 for only $500. Silly me got so excited! Then my phone rings again from a florist who had "drew my name" and I had won a discount from them. I then realized that I hadn't actually "won" anything. But I had to give it to them, I totally fell for it and would have booked with them just because I "won" something blush2.gif

I'm watching my pennies as well, and have been entering contests right and left! Unfortunately, I have not had very much luck. I won a coupon for a photobooth at a bridal show, which: a) gave me a $100 or $200 discount on an item that cost hundreds and 2) does me little good given that our wedding is in Mexico!  To add insult to injury, the woman that won the drawing right after mine won tungsten wedding bands! I don't love tungsten, but it's the principle of the thing!

It is crazy how many "scams" are out there... you're right, brides have to be really careful because these companies are so tricky!! I'm glad you figured it out before you booked...!!

Oh man, that is such a bummer about the photobooth. I wonder if someone would buy it off of you for $25 or $50 bucks, it would still save them money.

I've been finding my giveaways mostly on blogs-- I think I'm having good luck so far because they mostly have a lower number of entries-- giving me a better chance! I hope you start winning soon. :)

I gave the gift certificate away---I guess I should have thought of selling it! LOL  Any blogs that you would suggest for entering contests?

What blogs do you read? I'm trying to find some wedding ones.

To find the giveaways I sometimes do twitter searches or google blogsearches for "wedding giveaway."

I hope that helps!!

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm excited to check them out. I sometimes worry about submitting my information for a wedding giveaway, because I wonder if it's just a scam so people spam the heck out of your inbox. Have you run into this?

I use a wedding email for all of my wedding-related stuff.  Using a gmail account is the best option, IMHO, not the least reason is because now they sort your email into categories, including: primary, social and promotions.

Yup, I definitely use a separate email address for everything-- it's a gmail. It works great. I also don't enter any giveaways that require what I feel to be "too much" information-- like I'm not giving my address or phone number out unless I win-- but that is a personal preference.

There are a lot of great items out there! I was cautious at first and figured there was no way that it could be real but then items kept showing up at my door. Nothing better than coming home to something pretty (and free!) in your mailbox. Today, I got a stunning necklace I plan to wear at my welcome dinner!
