Welcome! We are planning a May '09 wedding (we got engaged in June '07!), so I understand it being hard to wait so long!! Giving people plenty of time to save/plan/etc. was a big reason we chose to wait so long also. Finishing school and having time to get our careers under way were the other main ones.

Welcome, Julia! Don't feel alone, there a few of us '09 brides here! We are also getting married in April as well, and for the same reason that you are! I want everyone who means something to us to be able to come to our wedding, and this is the best way we could think of to make sure that happens.
