gran caribe vs. other options

Hi there!!! I have finally narrowed it down to either gran caribe in cancun vs. somewhere in the riviera maya/ playa del carmen area. I have spent hours and hours researching cancun to find the most affordable resort so my guests wouldn't be spending an arm and a leg. I am kind of thinking of playa del carmen if we don't do gran caribe but I was wondering your guys' thoughts who have had weddings there or done sight visits. We are getting married next April so it might be spring break for some college kids but most should be done in march. We are a fun, young group so I like the idea of being near the bars in case people want to venture out. Although I am wondering if this hotel is luxurious and fun enough for everyone to be satisfied for their stay. I haven't seen the BEST reviews on tripadvisor and was wondering your guys' thoughts. I also want to incorporate my wedding colors of tiffany blue and white wherever I can in the ceremony and I liked how I saw pictures for gran caribe that they can do that. 

Any help would be SOO appreciated!! I don't have the money to do a site visit and am kind of freaking out that I can't see it ahead of time!!
