Does anyone have any experience planning an indian wedding in jamaica? What resorts do you recommend? Any advice is helpful at this point!

Hi resh! I have not personally planned a wedding in Jamaica, but I posted some possible leads in another thread for you:

There are a good number of Indian immigrants in Jamaica, so I am thinking that you should be able to find something! One way of going about it is to google "Jamaica and Hindu Wedding", and contact some of the vendors involved.  You can always cross check the quality of the vendors on this site and others.  One place I'm seeing come up a lot is the Grand Palladium in Montego Bay:

I hope this helps get you started!

Thanks for those links, I hadnt seen those ones. I have heard there is an indian community there..now I just have to figure out how to get in tough with local vendors.

This is a situation where it is probably best to at least get in touch with a local planner.  Although some of the hotels may be used to hosting Indian weddings (the Grand Palladium and Half Moon Resort are venues that keep coming up), they're the ones who know what is going on on the ground.  Here's a link to Jamaican planners from Wedding Wire, and you should also definitely check the reviews here for Jamaican planners as well.  I can't wait to see your plans come together!  (The stars keep conspiring to keep me from attending my friends' Indian weddings, but at least I can live vicariously through others! LOL)

Hi,

I have been calling local planners..its weird some are charging 10K and some are charging 1K and everyone gives me different advice because some get commision from working with specific resorts so its quite confusing.

One step at a time i guess! I plan on going down there in a few weeks to see the resorts myself..but I want it to be productive, I wanna go with ideas of my mandap etc. all decided.

This process really is confusing---we brides only become 'experts' after all is said and done! LOL  I ended up talking to a couple of different planners before I made my choice.  I read reviews, talked to the planners and made my decision from there.  Yazmin de la Mora, who is by all accounts a fabulous planner herself, has an article on choosing a wedding planner in Riviera Maya that has advice that I think applies to weddings everywhere, even in Jamaica.

Hello everyone!

I hope people still look at this posting. I am trying to plan my February 2015 indian wedding in Jamaica and could use some help! I've done some research and have been attached to half moon resort in Montego Bay! I also like roundhill resort as well. We will have about 80 people attending and want ceremony and reception to be held outdoors. Has anyone held a wedding at a villa before? Also if anyone has anyyyy information on half moon resorts I would greatly appreciate it.

Mahi, how is your wedding planning going?!
