Will you resign for marriage?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and my dad think my salary is low but work too hard.so they hope me to quit it and get married, but as a woman, I don't want to be a burden in the home after getting married ,What i want is to keep the economic independence, how can I convince my father and fiance?

If you like your job, keep working! As you say, I agree that economic independence is good and I think its worth holding on to.

It really is your decision though, isnt it? Why would you have to convince them? Sorry, dont mean to offend here, but is sounds really old fashioned and patriarchal.

If YOU are happy with it, maybe you can come to a compromise? Maybe you could work part time instead of full time?

Some people are happy staying at home the whole time, being "trophy wifes" or ladies who lunch which Im sure can be very fulfilling for some people. Others like the routine of having a job and the all important economic independence.

I prefer the economic independence of working and contributing to the household income. If you enjoy what you do, keep doing it!! If you don't, take him up on that offer until you find something you do like.
