Hi! My name is Kira. I'm new to posting.. Been a lurker for a while now! I'm so overwhelmed with choosing a resort! We are looking at about 40 people, but most packages cater to 20 :( we also have a small price range because our guests are young without alot of cash flow! Any suggestions on a good resort with alot in the wedding package? VIM and Palace resorts would be my preference, but I'm afraid my guests wouldn't afford it!

Hi Kira.  My friends just had their wedding at the Crown Paradise Club in Cancun.  The packages there are for 40 people and the wedding was  very pretty.  The food/drinks were just ok, but the prices for the wedding & the rooms were very reasonable. Each room does have an ocean view which is nice.  But it is VERY kid friendly, so if that is something you are comfortable with, I'd suggest you check it out. (They also have a location in Puerto Vallarta.)

Kira, I am in the same boat as you!

I will be looking at this thread a lot I think :)

We are looking at about 40--50 people as well. Wanting to keep things close to 10-15k, which seems daunting already. I am considering Secrets Maroma Beach and Excellence Riviera Cancun. I recently began working with an agent, so maybe I will have a better time choosing!

Thank you so much for the replies! We'd like our budget to be 10k. Our guests not paying more than 1,200 pp for hotel, tax and insurance. We've thrown around the ides of just the two of us, but I'm afraid I'll regret that!

Hi Kira,

I am fairly new to this as well but my destination wedding planner has been a big help so far.  When you give them information on your respective budget, your guests respective budget and other details that are important to you for a location they are great at giving you great options.

Good Luck,

Tricia

Conrats,

A TA or a wedding planner is a really good resource. Budget is so important to most brides. Look for the Destination first then the resort. I'm going to make  a list prioritizing what is most important to me to least. I think this will help me choose.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm getting married in Feb 2014 at the Gran Caribe in Cancun.  Their luxury package is for 40 people and includes a lot.  I added a DJ and upgraded our photography package and it came to just over $6k.  I'm going to add in centerpieces and bridesmaid bouquets (mine is included in our package) so that will increase the price but it'll still be less than I was planning.

We also made sure to choose a resort that would be affordable for our guests and based on the rate the resort gave us and airfare from Boston, 4 nights and 5 days is about $950 per person.

The hotel I'm getting married at  is owned by Real Resorts which also has sites in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel and may be worth you checking out. I've had a good experience so far, the wedding coordinator I've been using has been great.
