OFF RESORT wedding/rec. VENUES?

Hi all!

 

Fiance and I have been looking for resorts/venues both in dominican and mexico, although we are 90% sure it will be in Mexico. After seeing the Jellyfish location in Punta cana though, of course I got excited Someone then brought up whether I'd looked at off resort venues in mexico, seeing as we plan to have our wedding THERE.

 

With that said, WHAT OUTSIDE VENUES HAVE YOU HEARD OF THAT ARE WELL SUITED FOR A WEDDING/RECEPTION?

 

We are really trying to keep wedding/reception budget low, and seeing as the packages at resorts often box you in and have hidden fees, the idea of going elsewhere where you simply pay for WHAT YOU WANT (more a la carte) seems ideal. Plus you get a change of scenerie, etc...

 

Any suggests? And if so, what details can you share about the place or your experience using them?
