Whew I feel better now! LOL When we got our license and did the civil ceremony the clerk made it clear that a name change is a separate issue. I guess in some states they make it easy for you but not Cali.

My full first name is 2 words (no space), my middle name is hyphenated, and my maiden name is 2 words (with a space). That's why hyphenating my last name seems like a lot to me! I am Italian but damn that's a long name even for my people!! rofl.gif

I love my maiden name so I may keep it as another middle, kind of like what Ann is doing. As for kids when we have them, the poor things, I should just let them be a Jones like their father and keep it simple. My husband wants to hyphenate their names, and once he found out anyone can change their name to anything he even suggested hyphenating his name to combine both of ours :o)

oh that's so cute, Jamy! i think i am going to give one of our children, a boy if we have one, my maiden name as their middle name - just cuz there are no boys to pass down my father's name - i'd do it as a gesture.

man, you do have a lot of names! you're like a walking phone book!

I was under the impression that marriage doesn't automatically merge your credit histories anyway. Only when applying for joint credit will both your histories matter.

My middle name is my mom's maiden name. She is one of 5 girls and wanted to pass down her father's last name in some way. So, me and all of my sisters' middle name is her maiden name. I think it's a great idea!

That is waht my FSIL did with her children. Her dad (My FFIL) is from Italy, so when she married an Irishman with a very Irish last night, she wanted to keep some of the Italian. So both of her daughters middle names are her maiden name.

We got married 3 months ago. I pretty much changed most stuff over within a couple of weeks of returning from my honeymoon. I just have a couple of things left. Changing my passport was fun. My marriage license is in Spanish so the passport office stated that I would have to have the license translated by the local university in order to renew it for $67. fun! Or I could just turn in my old passport and show my drivers license with my new name, and apply for a whole new passport for $97. I threw money at the situation and went for option 2. I can't be bothered.

Kelly! your ex's girlfriend is a nut nut! lol. Can't believe he's still with her.
