Cancun wedding - documentation translation & apostilled

Hi Everyone,

 

i hope everyone's wedding plans are going well and getting everything ready for your upcoming weddings!

 

i am looking for some help/advise with regards to getting the required documentation ready for our wedding.

 

my fiancee and i are getting married at Riu Caribe in April 2014 and we are both from the UK and have never been married /divorced etc

 

does anyone have any advise of where to start with getting birth certificates translated and apositlled??

 

its very hard trying to find consistent information on getting these documents done.

 

any help/advise would be much appreciated.

Hello Mark82,

I can imagine how difficult it could be for you being so far away trying to get that info.  You can find it through your wedding planner on site.  Talk to her and she supposed to do everything for you if you are buying the wedding package from the hotel.

 

Otherwise it will be very difficult for you because people at the Registro Civil offices does not speak english or do not have internet.  So you will have to contact directly the Justice of the Peace himself...

I personally never had to translate any birth certificate, I do not know why they are requesting you that!  However, the better way will be via your wp on site.

i am more looking for information from people that might have already gone through this process or are in the process of going through it, possibly from the UK.

 

i have found one or 2 companies that do this service but they seem very expensive and i dont know how to check if getting these companies will produce accepted documents that will be ok for mexico.

 

like i say its very hard trying to get accurate information from places.

 

i have emailed the wedding coordinator and he has told me the documents i need etc just have to find out how to go about it.

Thank you and I am sorry if I misunderstood something.

 

However, what you have to do is to bring your birth certificate with the apostille from your country.  

 

If Bride is divorced (I know is not your case), then she has to get the apostille as well from her country and then pay the translation of her birth certificate and/or divorce certificate.

 

Once in Mexico (you have to consider to be here in the area a couple of working days prior your wedding date)

Once you are here, then you have to do the translation of the certificates... both sides (if something is written in the back) that is more less 500 pesos for each translation.  

 

If Bride is divorced the easiest way to avoid the payments will be to erase your parents from your new wedding certificate.

 

Once the wedding is done, the Judge will give you one certified copy of your wedding certificate (with this one you can start doing the change to your new husband's last neame, etc) but the other one is going to Chetumal which is the capital of the state of Quintana Roo where they will do an apostille that is more less 500 pesos.  Once is done your wp will send it to your country by Fedex, UPS or DHL since the mail system in Mexico is not reliable.

 

With the apostille your wedding will be recognize by the Hague countries.

A Mexican Civil Marriage generates an original Legal Marriage Certificate and a Certified Copy. The Original eventually goes to Chetumal, capital of the State of Quintana Roo, where it is permanently filed: The Certified Copy –duly stamped and signed in ink by the Judge—goes to the couple.

The Marriage Certificate is recognized by 65 States that are Members of the Hague Conference on Private International Law like the United States, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Japan and most other countries.
