Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana, DR!

Im curious if anyone is having their wedding or have had their wedding at the Riu Palace Bavaro!?  We are getting married this Aug, 3rd and havent heard much about it on this website! 

 

Looking for any advice on things to think about for destination weddings, gifts for wedding party, how did hair and makeup go? etc!?

Hi

I am getting married there on 6th December, im really excited but would love to know more, wedding coordinator has answered a lot of questions for me! I am just waiting on a reply about hair and makeup, i want to know if their hair stylist has experience of clip in hair extensions! 

Private receptions are pricy depending on what you want i only have 15 people so not worth the $1000 plus dj etc.... 

Have you used a tour operator i am using thomson uk!

If you have any information i would love to hear?

i will share as much as i know!

We're getting married there in June....I've had some frustration with the WC there.  Does she take a long time to answer your emails too?

Hi yes she takes forever to answer and also avoids the answer to the question I have asked! It's really frustrating!! I asked about clip in hair extensions and the answer was yes at an extra cost, I don't seem to get a lot in the £1200 package they offer! :/

Hi Ladies - yes the WC seems to take at least a week to get back to me but she seems to be getting a little faster.  I too was asking about hair and makeup and she gave me the salon email address (below).  I have not written them yet but they may be able to answer your question more than the WC.

 

 I was asking if hair and makeup are done in the brides suite or does everyone travel to the salon to get everything done.  She stated everyone travels to the salon but you can pay extra to have them come to the room to do everyone.  Probably expensive lol.  Anyways, hope this helps.  What ideas do you guys have about welcome bags or wedding party gifts?  So far for welcome bags we thought of tumblers, sunscreen and tylenol or something...

Thankyou for that i shall email the salon! I had a reply within 3 days last week which is excellent haha! Are you getting married on the beach or gazebo? I havnt thought about welcome bags its restricted 20 kilos luggage from uk so with a princess wedding dress for me my guests may have to wait till our home reception for these or maybe before we go lol! Im only having a small ceremony 16 guests i think so not having a private reception. Whats everyone elses plans id love to hear your ideas since there isnt much around for this resort.. Hello Ladies - I have to agree that the WC takes forever to respond. (The response time does seem longer and longer, especially since we only have a month left!)

Luckily, I have a wedding planner that has experience with previous weddings at the Riu Palace Bavaro. She gave me a lot of information package (that she had from the previous weddings), which saved me quite some time.

 

Mrsrowlands - I have the price list of all the services at the renova spa (such as hair extensions) if you would like. Or maybe you already have it?

 

Also, I heard that there is no gazebo option at the Riu Palace Bavaro, only the beach. Initially, we wanted the gazebo at the Riu Palace Punta Cana (and didn't mind going there for it), but the WC said that since we are all RPBavaro guests, we can only have the wedding at the beach. Please let me know if you heard otherwise!

 

We also paid extra to have a private reception by the beach and it will be a Beach B.B.Q. - The pictures I saw were very nice so we opted for this choice but the price really adds up!!

 

I would also like to hear everyone else's plans Hope you ladies all have a happy planning!

Thanks for all the info! whiteuny can you send me or post the extra info package your wedding coordinator dug up for you and the list of prices?  I dont know about you guys but I cant seem to figure out the perferct hair style for a beach wedding.  Are you guys having the salon do both hair and makeup?  Do they do a trial run first?

 

I think we are going to do the private reception too.  How did you hear about the outside BBQ, that sounds really fun!  Right now we have a tenative booking at the Italian Restaurant for the reception.  Being the wedding is in Aug we are nervous its going to be really hot outside so opted for an indoor air-conditioned place.  Apparantly WC said dancing, MC and DJ plus our dinner tables can all fit.  fingers crossed lol.   

 

Has anyone visited the resort before?  We have never been, anything we should look out for or things we must do?

Hi whiteuny the salon pricelist would be brilliant thanks i dont have it. The beach bbq sounds excellent how do you go about having that instead of a sitdown meal? I agree the price can go up quickly! Ddrezek i am having hair at salon and makeup myself i assume they will do a trial i am having loose waves with a bit up! I chose the beach so not sure about the gazebo option! Surly its the same company you can use it?! Thankyou for replies and in advance for pricelist xx
