Is it tacky to put a limit on our guest count?

Recommended Posts

Definitely put a limit on it if you're on a budget. I made the mistake of not doing that. I wanted a 30 person wedding and that's why it's a destination. Guess what my guestlist is currently at???

118!!!!!!

Good point. I think I will let everyone know up front that 30 is our max. That should cut down on the drama later on.

It's great to let people know early on. I feel people are a lot more understanding when its a destination wedding too. The guest list is always the hardest part!! Good luck :)

Another option you have is to find a resort that doesn't charge the 'per person over 10'.  It was something that I really stressed over so I finally found a resort where the dinner/cake/cocktails were all included if they stayed at the hotel, regardless of how many.  However, that is only if you do the semi-private reception.  If you want the private dinner, then you do have to pay the per person fees.

We've found another resort (Gran Caribe/Royal Cancun) we like. I'm on the fence because the price for 20 ppl seems reasonable as well as the surcharge for additional people. The only thing is I can't seem to get my hands on a menu and a price list for extras. I've emailed the resort and asked for assistance on here. No luck. Someone mentioned for me to add all the extras online to see the cost but the "extras" available to add online were very limited. Traci, which resort did you decide on?

Wow! This place is NICE! I will have to do a little more research when I get home. Were you able to get good room rates for your guest?

I feel like they are good rates but I don't have too much to compare them too.. This is a rough estimate of our rates.  This is round trip airfare and the all-inclusive stay.  These prices also include unlimited excursions (zip lining, dolphin swims, sunset cruises, etc.) but since then they've limited it to 1 per stay I think.  Let me know if you have any questions!

8 days/7 nights - $1634

7 days/6 nights - $1462

6 days/5 nights - $1292

5 days/4 nights - $1123

4 days/3 nights - $942

3 days/2 nights - $870

Did you get married yet? I know this thread is a few months old. If so, how was everything with 118 guests?
