Now Larimar 2014 Brides

Recommended Posts

@EVKnowsitall Thanks for the info!

@lisamarco413 They were accommodating with the change in ceremony time, they emailed me back right away with the availability. I was given five pm, I requested four but it was unavailable so I took three pm. We are now having a symbolic wedding. I requested to have a legal ceremony performed by a judge, however timing did not work out for us. There is only one judge available for the whole island and he is not available to come marry us until 5pm. So we would be having a symbolic wedding at 3pm then making it legal by signing papers with a judge at 5pm (which is when we would be getting pictures done). We just figured it wasn't worth the hassle for us. We may as well get married at home before we go and not pay the $540 judicial fee along with all of the paperwork/translations if we are going to end up having a symbolic wedding anyway. I hope yours works out better for you!!

Hi Ladies!

I may be a little eager but since my planning has begun; i'd figure i'd read up on my homework & get involved!

I may not be a 2014 Bride but I will be NOW Larimar one. My Wedding date has been confirmed a for a Symbolic wedding April 15th 2015 (preferably 3 or 4 pm) but I have to wait to hear back from the judge. Apparently you can only book with a judge 1 year in advance. The more I read though, the more I am contemplating just getting legally married here instead & save myself the headache.

So I obviously have just as many questions as all of you! When I started reading all the different forums I had totally different questions! Everyone has been so helpful!

Does anyone know if there will be a "set up" fee X2 for moving chair sashes from ceremony location to reception location?

Also has anyone heard or looked into Soles Chillout bar for a private afterparty?? I can't remember which forum I read it in.

Thanks in advance! Happy Planning!

Hi! I posted this in the other forum (LOL). I wanted to let you know that I asked my Wedding Coordinator the same question regarding the sashes. She said that I would have to bring two sets; one set for the ceremony at the fountain and another set for our reception in the ballroom. She also explained that the set up fee per sash is $1, which is ok compared to them charging $3/sash and I can find them here for about $.65/sash!

@Kristina Simms and @EVKnowsitall Thanks!!  We are still waiting to hear on the judge.  I guess I'm just concerned that if we get married legally at home, I might feel bad asking people to travel for a symbolic ceremony since a few aunts and uncles don't come from money.  It's a tough call for us, but, it just depends on the judge at this point!

I found out my WC today is Luisa Miranda.  She sent my travel agent a PDF version of the Excel spreadsheet everyone else seems to have.  So I can't put my decisions in and have it calculated, so strange.  I'm emailing her to figure this out.  Does anyone else have her?

A few random questions for everyone or anyone who can answer, lol...

1. We wanted to select the Divine Wedding Package, but the spreadsheet we received only contains the Your Moments Wedding Package.  Has anyone else run into this?

2. What are the room keys like at the resort? Are they cards you slide or actual metal keys?

3. Do we know what the type of money is used there (someone said Pesos, is that correct?)

4. Is there an ATM or Currency Exchange on the resort grounds?

5. Do the a la carte restaurants take reservations? How far in advance can you book?

6. Do we have access to the DREAMS restaurants, or is this only if you stay in the Preferred Club?

7. If we bring our own cups to the resort so our drinks will stay colder for longer, will the bartenders be ok filling those up?

Thanks everyone!!!

Lisamarco413, We were going to get married down there but there are so many extras costs when getting married there. We are getting married at home, but only telling select few. So everyone else would have no idea. As in Dominican we are still going to exchange rings and say our vows. I wouldn't feel bad, especially because until you tell them they won't know the difference :)

1. I have the Divine Wedding package and I have all the options on my spread sheet

2. I've never seen actual keys at all-inclusive resorts. they are key cards. (like most hotels now a days)

3. There is a Dominican Peso they you can get there and they also except American Money.

4. You will be able to exchange currency at the airport of the front desk of the hotel.

5. No reservations are required for the A La Carte restaurants!

6. All guest can enjoy dinner, cocktails & live entertainment at of the neighboring resorts during your stay:

• Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana

• Dreams La Romana Resort & Spa

• Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa

7.Of course you can bring your own cups!! They will be more then happy to fill them up for you. I do this all the time!

Keeps your drinks cold, and you don't have to go to the bar so often!

I do have Luisa Miranda as a WC as well. She is great at responding by email and answered all of my questions!

There are numerous places you can have your reception and ceremony that are included in the various wedding packages.  Some restaurants; however, do cost more money as mentioned and can be 5k.  We're getting married at the fountains and having our ceremony at the relaxing pool.

Hi Ladies,

Are any of you ladies having a symbolic ceremony and if so, did you pick a pastor or a minister. I don't know if I go through the resort or do I have to look for one on my own. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good one?

Thanks

@Jahanee I'm having a symbolic ceremony also and we decided to hire a minister to make the ceremony appear more traditional. The wedding coordinator will do it for free but from the videos I've seen it lasts only about 5 minutes. I hired Pastor Rick York (actually Pastor Mark because Pastor Rick won't be in town) from the recommendations from this website. As soon as I contacted him he replied back immediately and sent me a sample of his ceremonies. I talked to my WC about this and she said the cost of a pastor is paid directly to him and that the resort will not charge an outside vendor fee for him. The brides who used him gave rave reviews on these threads, so I'd definitely check him out!
