RE; Travel agents or just directly with the travel company

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

My wedding is still a year and a half out but I wanted to ask all of you out there about your thoughts.

Have most of you out there got yourself a travel agent?  Or..... what do you think of the idea of booking directly through the actual travel company using their group rate of course (i.e. AIR CANADA VACATIONS, SUNWING, WESTJET, AIR TRANSAT).

Just curious if any of you desination brides have just gone directly through a reservation agent at the actual travel company.  Is this even allowed? lol

After reading some posts, I feel like going through a third party, things tend to get lost in translation (for example, many brides were not told by there travel agents that they are able to get a trip for free after a certain number of people booked).

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions in advance :)

Julia

Julia,

not all travel agencies are the same.  it is really important to work with one that has experience with destination weddings.

You might want to try one of the BDW Travel Agents.  We Specialize in Destination weddings.  You can contact us HERE!

If you do not know what TA you want to work with, just fill out the form Contact a Destination Wedding Specialist HERE and I will direct you to the best agent that fits your needs.

Although, we (wright travel) do not work directly with canadian brides, there are two agencies on here that do.

You can read some of our reviews here: Wright Travel Agency ~ Destination Wedding Specialist Reviews HERE and find the other agency reviews as well.

Hi Julia,

Great question! At Sunwing Weddings, you can go directly through us as the tour operator to book your wedding! There is a little more work involved as you manage your own group, but you do cut out the third party! This is typical booking through most tour operators.

If you are looking for a more 'hands-off' experience, then a travel agent is the way to go. Someone like LUXE Destination Weddings would be able to provide you with a full-service. It's all about personal preference!

Happy planning!
