Losing Weight for the New Year/Your Wedding

Recommended Posts

Good Morning ladies, I am thinking of going on a diet. Last year I was on weight watchers but I got sick four months later. I have been on steroids and anti inflammatory medication. I have noticed that I continue to gain weight. Do any of you know of a diet or excercise that may help with someone with inflammatory bowl disease? Thanks ladies.

Hi I am thinking you are saying you suffer from chronic inflammation.  If so, water aerobics are great for that. As is yoga that is NOT heated and not high intensity cardio. (They have so many now).  Stretching everyday helps with joint pain, and look up foods that are both inflammatory (to see if you are eating things that will not help!) as well as anti-inflammatory.  Kris Carr is a great author to look up.

If you are talking more about IBS...that is def something you could help just by changing your diet! Do the research on food...most of weight loss is what you are eating, and most ailments such as IBS and inflammation are caused by diet.

Also you could try to cut out gluten. I stopped eating gluten in Jan and only have it maybe once or twice a month (a sub sandwich or something of the sort when Im in a rush) and i have felt so much better! I have acid reflux and it has helped end the pain of bloating and stomach sickness.  I had IBS but I am totally cured of it, except when I cheat and have white bread or something with gluten...then the bathroom breaks and pain come back for about two days.

Hi Natalieblev,

Thanks for your post. I have Ulcerative Colitis which is similar to IBS its IBD but there is no cure. It is in the Crohns disease family. I have gained weight and am hoping to not have to use anymore meds soon. I hope to get on a diet and join a gym in the next months.

I have considered getting on a gluten free diet but have not tried yet. I will try to get into a strict diet so that i can feel better about myself and fit into an awesome wedding dress.!!!

Angel I feel your pain! I suffered from bad stomach pains and crohns runs in my family. Gluten makes those symptoms way worse. I don't want to be one of those people preaching about foods and health but if you do need any help finding good Gf foods I have tried them all by now and can tell you what is good and what is not. I'm also following a high protien low fat diet since jan and working out since Feb. I want to get in shape for the wedding but a lot of my motivation to stay on track eating now has come from cheat days making me feel miserable because of stomach issues. So instead of thinking oh I've been at the gym all week I can have this or that, now I just know the pain I'm going to feel and it motivates me to not do it. Let me know if you need any meal ideas or brands of foods and I would be more than glad to help!

I totally recommend iTrackBites. I think it cost $1.99. Essentially it is the Weight Watchers system, but you count "bites" rather than points. I go to the WW meetings in-person, but I use the iTrackBites app on my phone to count the points/bites and track everything. It's great.
