Now Amber Resort in Puerto Vallarta Brides

Recommended Posts

I think the decorations that come with the Gazebo are good especially when it comes with the package. Anything more than that is just extra costs that aren't needed. I had to ask Fatima to have the Terrace booked. I found it through a blog that I read and a picture I found online. It's more private than the pool and there's a separate entrance near the Secrets Resort that leads up to it.

Congrats on booking on the 19th! You're one week before me =) I'll have to look into the photography upgrade as well. I didn't even know that there was an upgrade but good to know now =).

Currently, I'm trying to keep my guest count at 25 since anything over 25 is additional. So it won't be too huge. As for reception decorations and favors, I'll be making those at home and bringing them to Mexico. Nothing too big and definitely nothing that customs may hold hostage of either. Since I'm trying to stay within budget, I've been designing our save the date cards and invitations which helped us save money there and the extra money can go towards an upgraded dinner package. Which dinner package are you opting for? I think my fiance is settled on the Platinum package, however I'll probably email Fatima if we have the option to have a buffet without having to do it at one of their restaurants.

You're so lucky that your cousin can DJ!! But just in case, they do charge a $100 to use an "outside vendor" =(. I'll have all my music playlists saved on my ipod so that it'll just play continuous for each part of the wedding.

The bonfire looks like fun but we haven't decided on any after reception activities yet. =( But we will be releasing the paper lanterns after the reception. Fatima charged $9 (minimum 10) however I'll be purchasing mine elsewhere and bringing them with me to wedding. =)

Fatima finally emailed me back so I feel much better. We have secured May 19th! I think I am also going to use the in house photographer, I found out from another bride that they have some better upgrade packages than they might tell you up front. For $799 you can upgrade and get 500 photos on a CD, so practically all of them. Since the package only comes with like 30 or something? Which isn't very many. I also looked at Photoshoots Vallarta since they offer the discount for weekday but once I found out about the upgrade package with Vallarta Adventures I just decided to stay with them, just one less thing to organize! Although I really loved Photoshoots pictures they had sent me, I'm sure they will do a great job!

I'm also stuck on decorations, Fatima had sent me a photo of the Gazebo with this white organza fabric on each post and some white flowers tied to the front to two posts. I love the look of it, its so simple and elegant, but I'm afraid to even ask her how much they would charge to do that. It's probably way more than I want to spend.

How many guests do you have coming? I have 27 right now, so the reception won't be huge, I will only need to come up with a couple of centerpieces. I might even just decide to stick mine and my BM bouquets on the tables and call it a day! I think we are going to have to bite the bullet and rent the speakers for the reception, but will opt out of the dancefloor. My cousin who is coming to the wedding is a DJ so he is going to bring his computer and do that for us. But if he wasn't my next option was to use my ipod. Are you guys having live or recorded music at the ceremony?

We also booked a bonfire for the last night we are there, so I am excited for that!

Good to know, I will email Fatima about the Terrace, it sounds very nice! As far as I understand it, if someone who is a guest staying at the hotel is providing one of your services then you do not need to pay the vendor fee, since what they claim they are paying for is the use of their services while they are at the resort, which a guest would have already paid for. So hopefully that is correct!

For dinner, we have the Divine package so I believe it includes the Platinum menu, but we have pretty simple taste buds so I will have to contact Fatima and see if they are able to make some other dishes, we just want like a cesear salad and chicken as the main course. I don't eat seafood and it seems everything has that in it!

When are you planning on sending out your invites? I feel like its so strange because all my guests have booked already but I still wanted a formal invitation, even though I know who is coming! Oh well, it will be worth it for sure!

I'll be sending out my save the dates next week. I"ve kept my engagement a secret for a few weeks now and wanted to announce it through our save the date cards and have all our travel info on our wedding website. As for invitations, I'll have them sent out at the end of February because I'd like to get an RSVP by end of March.

Hi

I had a wedding booked for May 2014 at Dreams Puerto Vallarta but have transferred to Now Amber due to the fact Dreams will be closed. I'm still try to sort out the details (having to start my planning from scratch). Is/has anyone rented the sound system??? How much music do you need? Anyone know the cost? It was $450 at Dreams and I refuse to pay more......

Hello! Any brides out there that had to move to the Now Amber from the Dreams Puerto Vallarta and having trouble with the wedding coordinator? The sales director told us it would be a easy move over they would do everything but I'm having to re plan everything! The wedding coordinator is telling me we can't have things we were promised over at the dreams because it's a different resort and it wasn't there fault the the dreams shut down! I don't think this is anyway to treat guests!

I also switched from Dreams to Now Amber. I am dealing with Fatima at Now Amber, is that who you have been speaking with? I find she is fairly prompt at getting back to me, sometimes it takes a couple of days. I have found that while their packages are similar they certainly aren't the same. (ie. they both include photography, at Dreams it was full day coverage at Now Amber it is only an hour...) I am also basically re-planning the whole thing as well. I thought there would be more consistency across the board seeing as they are both AM Resorts.

Hi Ladies!

I also switched from Dreams, but am going to get married on the Secrets side of the resort since we don't have any children attending. What a mess that was a few weeks ago trying to figure that out, but I am so happy now! The resort looks gorgeous (and new!) and I am loving the terrace for the reception. :)

I am from the US, but I am curious about the room rate packages you got with Air Canada. Fatima quoted me on group room rates, and it is not until every 25th (!!!!) room that you get the free one, which I thought was strange, seeing as how at the Dreams it was every 6th room too...but I digress. How did you all go about getting group rates with Air Canada? I want to look for something similar with an airline/travel group here, but don't know where to start!

Also, did you guys ask Fatima about room agreements too? I wonder if its a Secrets thing and I would be better doing the Now side to save some $...

Thanks all!

Hi KYKAI.  You mentioned that you posted a very detailed review.  I can't seem to find it. Sorry - a new user here!  I would love to read your opinion before I make my choice.  The Dreams PV just recently cancelled my on me so I'm trying to make a decision on a new resort.  Thanks much and major congrats!
