Excited and overwhelmed!

Hi everyone!

I'm excited to join this site and learn as much as I can about planning for a destination. Just started the process and am loving it but there is so much to decide on. We are planning on hopefully getting married in the Riviera Maya, cozumel or playa del carmen area. Any brides out there have any tips on deciding what is the best month to get married in that area keeping weather and cost in mind?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hello and welcome!

You'll learn fast that there's a lot of great info on this site if you spend some time here! I'm getting married in Jamaica, so I unfortunately don't know much about Mexico weddings but you might want to start with the Mexico-specific boards for some info on the areas you're interested in/times of year to go. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/f/4/destination-wedding-in-riviera-maya-cancun-surrounding-areas Once you decide on a resort and a date, there will be plenty of great ideas on here you probably never considered but then decide you have to do (yep, I'm speaking from experience.) Haha. Good luck and happy planning!

By the way, BDW bride Allie got married at the El Dorado Royale in Mexico. She's an ambassador for the hotel and prob has some good info to share. Here's her planning thread with pics!

Hi Norma!

How are the plans coming along? Feeling excited is great, but not overwhelmed! Have you found a resort yet that you are thinking about marrying at? A couple of great properties you should look at are Azul Beach, Azul Sensatori, Grand Sunset Princess and Riu Palace Riviera Maya. Not only are these hotels fantastic for your guests, they have amazing wedding programs that offer brides lots of options. We work quite a bit with these resorts and just love them.

As for the time of year to get married at, we plan weddings year round and find that the weather is what it wants to be! I know that there is the worry of the hurricane season, but in all honesty, we have traveled year round to Caribbean destinations and the weather can be great during the summer months! We'd love to answer any other questions you have - please let us know!

Happy Planning!
