PHOTOGRAPHERS

Caribe Photo and Matias Cano Photo are the resorts approved  professional photographers and videographers who know the hotel and the most dramatic settings for the best lighting at different times of the day. Beautiful images of your wedding day and video footage of the ceremony will become family heirlooms that are cherished into the future.

*Should you wish to use a different photographer or videographer the resort charges an $800 outside vendor fee and they must be approved by the resort. The other option is to pay for a minimum 3 night stay for your photographer or videographer, so that they are considered guests of the hotel (in this case the $800 fee is waived).

THINGS I WISH I HAD KNOWN! BangHead.gif

Here is some great advice, if you would like to add more advice, just send me a message!

AIRPORT AND TRAVEL

  • Be sure to check with your airline for baggage weight allowance.

  • Be sure to follow the rules for liquids in your carry-on. 3.4 oz (100 ml)

  • It's advisable to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours in advance of your flight. Wear comfortable clothes, and consider packing a bathing suit in your carry on, since check in at the hotel is 3pm.

 ARRIVING IN CANCUN

  • You will be given a Mexican tourist card and entry form on the airplane. Please fill out the forms completely (front and back), before arriving.
  • Upon arrival in Cancun, you will proceed through customs. (Should you be bringing gifts you're giving your bridal party or OOT bag items be sure to bring receipts with you. You can only bring $300/person of gifts with you. Anything above that total you may have to pay a customs fee.)  They will give you your Mexican tourist card, keep this in a safe place, since it's your ticket home!
  • You will now collect your baggage!
  • Next step: place your luggage on the xray machine conveyer belt. Collect your bags on the other side of the machine.
  • Then proceed to the small stand where you press the button to reveal a red or green light. Green light- Go! Red light- customs will check your luggage.
  • Now walk out of the airport, following the exit signs. There will be people asking you where you are going, do you need a shuttle?, etc. (they are time share representatives) Simply say "No thanks", or "no gracais".
  • Upon exiting the airport, you will see the shuttle buses and tour operator representatives. If you have a pre-arranged shuttle, find your representative. They will direct you to your shuttle. If you have to take a taxi, they can be found in this area. However be sure to negotiate your price BEFORE getting into the taxi.

ELECTRICITY

110V/60 Hz with North American style outlets. No adapters required.

RESORT

  • You can exchange currency at the front desk
  • There is an interesting little museum in the front lobby.
  • The resort will try to get you to attend a time share presentation. This is your choice- it is not required. If you're not interested, just politely say "No thank you".
  • The resort offers dry cleaning, laundry and pressing. Just be aware it is usually a 24 hour service (rush service is available at additional charge), however the laundry service is closed on Sundays. (**so plan for this is your wedding is on a Sunday or Monday) (there is a laundry list in the next post with costs, to give you an idea!)
  • The resort offers a wonderful kids program daily. From 930am til 4pm, kids ages 5 to 14 will be entertained by resort staff. Then again from 7pm til 9pm.
  • For younger children they offer highchairs, Fisherprice toys, bottle sterilizers, bottle warmers, baby bath tubs, strollers, cribs, jars of baby food.
  • Babysitters are available (at additional cost). Please contact the kids club for details.
  • Gym- is located on the upper floor above the lobby, beside the spa.
  • There is a minifridge in your room, stocked with water, soda and beer.
  • There is live music every evening by the adult pool around 7pm.
  • Each building has its own concierge. Find them in the small buildings around the resort. They can assist if there are any issues with your room, arranging excursions, etc. They also have a list of all the resorts activities and books to read if you forgot one (or finish one!).

RESTAURANTS AND FOOD

  • Men are required to wear long pants for dinner (jeans are acceptable)
  • All restaurants are a-la-carte, however Spoon also offers a buffet option.
  • Lunch is also served on the beach at the beachside grill. But get there early, since it's a first come, first serve deal. Usually burger, hot dogs, salad, fries, etc.
  • Reservations are not required for any restaurant, with the exception of Le Chique. (Beginning November 1, 2012, there will be a $25 per person surcharge in order to have the unique Le Chique dining experience. This can be credited toward the premium menu or bottles of wine on the Wine Spectator menu. The surcharge does not apply to guests staying in the Premium Suites.
  • 24 hour room service is included. To find the room service menu, turn on the TV and find the correct channel.

BEACH

  • The beach is fairly small. However, they are slowly expanding the beach by trucking in new sand (as of January 2014). So the beach is slowly getting wider and is a beautiful soft white sand. The water directly in front of the resort can be quite rocky and shallow. (that is because is it an old coral reef)
  • IF you walk north along the beach (towards your left if you are facing the ocean), there is a nude resort around the point. (Be sure to warn your guests, especially those with children)
  • For a really nice, walk into the ocean, white sand experience- walk north (I know, towards the nude resort) and just before the point you'll find a beautiful spot to swim!
  • There are sand fleas on the beach. (they mostly come out at sunset and night time)(and they only bite from the knees down) Bug spray seems to help keep them away.
