I'm back from my Wedding at Sea!  Everything was better than I thought it could be.

Were were iffy about the folks at the wedding experience at first, mostly because it was like pulling teeth to get any real answers about the proper documentation needed to send to have a legal wedding at sea (i.e. for the country of Malta).  I am from Ontario, and my FI is from Saskatchewan, so I now know all about what needs to be done, but TWE wasn't much help there.

I ordered the Nautical Nuptuals package on Celebrity Silhouette.  We had 30 people (all sailing) join us.  The wedding was held in the Sky Observation Lounge (on the dance floor) the morning of the first full day at sea.  We did not pay for anything extra, but there were two pedestals with flowers around us at the front.  They also put flower petals down the aisle for me to walk on.  There was a pianist playing while they waited for me, who played while I came down the aisle, and who played again after the ceremony while we signed the documents.

We had group pictures on the grand staircase immediately after, then the guests went to Brunch at a specialty restaurant while we went for some more photos around the ship.  Brunch was highly praised, especially the chocolate fountain (which comes with brunch deserts so you don't have to pay extra for it).

We were worried the most about the photographer, since we're pretty much forced to use their photographer, but we were super happy with the photos.  We paid for an extra hour of photography, which allowed our photographer time to take us to all her favourite spots on the ship.  I will find a place to post some photos for you to see pictures of the food and venue if you'd like.

I had lots of fun with the OOT bags, and I'm glad we did them.  I saw lots of people using the canvas bags, and the key holder lanyards were used all week.  One thing I wish I added to the bags was a directory of cabin numbers for people to be able to call each other, and instructions on how you can check your messages from any phone on the ship.

The biggest problem we had was the formal wear company that was supposed to deliver the Tux to the stateroom.  They say to try it on right away so they can make adjustments ASAP, but the tux wasn't delivered until just before dinner.  It seriously looked like someone was playing a joke on us.  The vests looked nothing like the pictures we chose from.  The trousers were HUGE and looked like hammer pants.  The jacket looked like it should be retired, was oversized and was missing the ONLY button it was supposed to have on the front.  The wedding coordinator responded that the company that we used (that was provided to us in their .pdf) was different than the one that the cruise ship uses, and since it was a formal night, there were literally zero other tuxes to replace it with.  She then sent the ship's tailor who (after laughing at how the outfit looked)  found some replacements for us.  After the drama, it ended up looking okay, but to avoid the stress, I'd recommend ordering your own formal wear for the trip and making sure it fits before you bring it with you.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

Congrats CruisingT! My finace and I are thinking about getting married on a Celebrity cruise and I would love to hear more about your experience!

We are also from Ontario and we are concerned about people being able to afford flights and the cruise. Did you find this to be an issue with your guests?

Where did you and your guests have dinner? Was it just in the formal dining room with all the other guests? Was there an option to purchase a brunch reception or a dinner reception? Also, were you able to purchase alcohol packages for your guests for the wedding day?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your wedding?

I would love to see pictures of the ceremony space all set up and the food.

Thanks for your help and congrats again!!
