Overwhelmed and Excited!

Hi! I am recently engaged to the love of my life and we are so excited to continue our lives together as husband and wife! We are envisioning a destination wedding, specifically to the Pacific coast of Mexico. At this point i feel like this summer is out of the question so we are thinking December 2013. (I'm a teacher so other times during the year aren't realistic) I'm feeling like I don't know where to start with our planning so I'm excited to get tips here! I'm just getting to know the site but I would love any advice or direction for where to go for help for some of my initial questions: Cabo San Lucas or Puerto Vallarta in December? We want the best weather possible! (warm!) Advice on all-inclusive resorts in both places? We want it to be reasonable for us and guests! Timeline...do we have enough time to get this together by December? Is there a recommended order of decisions to make? How far in advance do we send save the dates and invites? At home receptions...how do you handle invites, formality, etc.? Hiring a photographer...worth it? Budget?? (I know this is a hard one but we don't want to be extravagant) Guests who can't stay at the resort...how to plan for them? I know a lot of these topics must have come up already and I will be reading :) Thanks for your advice!

Congratulations. You defiantly can pull this off by December but remember flights tend to go up during the holiday. Just look around the form maybe starting with locations your interested in and you will find very candid reviews and experiences from brides who has a DW almost anywhere on the glove. Good luck! And have fun.

Congrats MrsMedrano, + welcome to our forum community! yes, you have a lot of decisions ahead of you - planning your dream destination wedding - however you're already off to a great start by joining this site!

It's an excellent resource of wonderfully helpful ideas, suggestions + support from everyone here :)

We advise our wedding couples to book whatever they can as soon as they have a firm date. That way it gives their guests the most advance notice to save travel expense money, plus you have the optimal chance of your preferred requested date(s) being available from vendors.

We also highly recommend that you hire a professional photographer to capture your wedding story in the artistic style that you'll not only  treasure for your own lifetime - but pass on for generations to come........priceless!

All the best with your plans, and wishing you the most amazing wedding you've always dreamed of! Cheers :)

Congrats! A December wedding is totally possible! My best advice, research, research, research! Everything depends on your budget and what you are willing to spend. Once you decide on which resort etc I would book it soon,  you'd be surprised at fast time slots for weddings book up- even this far in advance. I sent our Save the Dates via email because we had time sensitive information regarding a group booking discount. I sent out our invites about 9 months out to give people as much time as possible. I recommend having an earlier RSVP date so you can get a better idea of numbers, this is the one thing I would have changed because I am bringing all of our decorations with us and has been hard to estimate how much stuff I will need.  As for a photographer, this was one of my highest priorities, at the end of the day all you have left are pictures. I was willing to spend a bit more on a photographer, we are bringing one with us but there are a ton of local photographers where ever you decide to go.

As of now, we do not have any off site guests and I hope it will stay this way, all resorts charge a fee for a day pass for these guests to attend the wedding- this cost can quickly add up if you have a lot of guests who chose not to stay at the same resort.

Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun planning!
