I am planning my wedding for 2014 between november and january of 2015. I have been relentlessly looking at resorts online within Cancun and the Mayan or surrounding areas. I am hoping to stick to a price range of under 7,000 for approximatly 29 people. Wondering if there are some suggestions on resorts you may have been to!

Thanks for the help ladies and gents!

Hi ladies! congrats to both of you!! If you haven't already, I'd highly suggest a travel agent to help you narrow down your resort choices and find the one that is perfect for you - budget, number of guests, amenities, etc. The ladies at Wright Travel can help you with this if you don't have a TA yet.

There are soooo many fantastic resorts in Cancun and along the RM cooridor. And they all offer different packages and price points. It's really a matter of prioritizing what you want in a resort.

When I started my search, I built an excel spreadsheet to compare the resorts (# of rooms, distance from airports, # of restaurants, bars, pools, and other facilities, and the room rack rates that I pulled from their websites). then I added their wedding packages to compare what's included in the "free", what's buy-up, what flowers are included, spa services, private events, etc. I also compared the current incentive packages - how many rooms/room nights do you need to get a bride/groom stay free credit or private event credit - things like that.

good luck with your search, and happy planning!!

Hey Megen,

Congratulations!  Speaking with a travel agent specialized in Destination Weddings is a great way to start!  It will help you narrow down your options quickly!  Another option is to speak to a wedding coordinator down here to get a feel for other non-resort options that may be more customizable and fit into your budget!

Happy planning and let us know how we can help!

HI there,

Congrats!!!! What fun and excited lies ahead for you. I suggest you look into Iberostar or the Grand Palladium, or even the Grand Bahia principe. All of these are GREAT resorts, with VERY reasonable prices and will offer a ton of activites and luxuries for all of your guests. Cancun, in my opinion is a little too "spring break" like. In addition, if you choose the Riveria Maya region you are close to PLaya Del Carman, and many theme parks, Mayan ruins ect. Basically, it will place you in a more centralized location so all of your guests can partake in whatever activities they wish. The Azul Sensatori is very nice as well, just closer to Cancun, yet a good option as well.
