Advice on a dress for TTD

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

I am super excited to have a Trash the Dress session booked.  But now I am thinking about dresses!  The dress I am wearing for my wedding is this:

Essence of Australia D1266

It's kind of like a 2 in 1 dress because you can take the lace overlay off and wear it as a mermaid style.  I don't mind 'trashing' this dress afterwards because honestly I know it will get ruined from a wedding in the sand on the beach anyway and I will never wear it again.  However, being mermaid style underneath I really don't think it's going to work for a TTD session.  I want something more flowy for in the water.  I'm afraid I just won't be able to move with the mermaid style underneath.

So here's my debate.  Obviously I don't want to spend a lot of money because man are things adding up, lol.  I have found a dress on Pinterest from fishinthesky.com, a website which has terrible reviews and makes knock-offs of designer gowns (that should be my answer right there I'm sure, lol) but I just love this dress and it's $200.

I know of course when the dress comes it won't look like this one does since I'm sure this is the designers real photo and the one I get will be a cheap quality and fabric, but if I'm just going to be jumping in a cenote in it do you think it matters?  I've looked at some resale places and haven't liked the styles (plus getting the size is difficult) and online resale places seem quite a bit more expensive.

What would you do?  Or do you think I could actually do a TTD in the dress that I already have for the wedding even with it being the style that it is?  Thanks for any advice!

Hi have a look on the knock off wedding thread you will find lots of replica photos and advice on choosing a company to make your dress for you. Jasmines Bridal Shop seems to get good reviews. If you really want to TTD but not use your original dress a replica is a brilliant idea. Good luck x
