Gifts for parents

If the parents aren't contributing to the wedding, do you still have to get them a gift?  Ugh, I feel like a jerk asking, but I don't get why they'd get "extra special" gifts.

It's totally up to you who you give gifts too. Most parents aren't expecting any so I wouldn't stress it

Thanks for asking the question about if the parents aren't contributing. We are paying for this on our own and only my parents are attending as his parents can't travel. We didn't expect my parents to attend so we were shocked. I was thinking about getting a picture for both families after the wedding but will probably give it as a gift for a birthday/Christmas or something.

This is my exact situation too regarding our parents! I think I'm also going to do something similar.

I took the baby pictures of me and my FI and made a combined photo book and are giving it to each parent. It will include pictures of us dating, vacationing and our engagement; then we are leaving a blank page in the back for them to tape our wedding photo. I hope they like it.

I think I'm just going to cheap out and give them a silver picture frame and promise of a print.  I can do that for not much $$.  I think I would feel like too much of a jerk to give the parents nothing (ugh, guilt!!)

We are doing digital picture frames with a saying on them from things remembered.
