Melia has me so confused! Help!

I too am looking to go to the Melia CAribe Tropical Beach and Gold Resort.  We are thinking we will have the Premium Tropical Fairytale package, depending on how many guests RSVP as yes.  If not, we'll have the regular Tropical Fairytale package.  I have a few questions for anyone in the final stages of planning and especially for anyone who's been there:

 

Do the bride/groom automatically get upgraded to Royal Service?

 

Has anyone had a beach ceremoney or reception?  Is it private or do you have onlookers the whole time/people in the background of your pictures?

 

Whats the difference between the 2 beach locations (for both ceremony and reception)...Caribe vs. Tropical? 

 

If I'm traveling with someone with a disability, will it be terribly difficult for them to get around?  (She can walk, just has a hard time breathing- can use a walker to help if necessary).

 

Does anyone have any pictures as to what exactly the Tropical Fairytale flowers/ceremony/reception look like?  I've seen pictures in their guidebook and everything, but nothing indicates exactly what that set up looks like (maybe it's customizable...I too have been confused by their information and pricing). 

 

What percentage of your invitees are actually attending your wedding?  I've read/heard to expect 50%...does that seem accurate with your experience?

 

Thanks for any help I can get!!!  My friend had a destination wedding last year and swears this site helped her to make a lot of her decisions so looking forward to any additional information I can get.

The wc I talked to just replys with half answers and doesn't really explain anything. It's actually making me double thinking going there. I'm going to seek out the forums maybe for some pictures/further info.

The person responding now will not be your WC, you are not assigned a WC until you have paid your deposit.

Me and my fiance are looking at getting married there too. We are having a hard time getting package information and pricing for add-on. Do any of you have a good contact for WC or pricing for add-on and such? I called the resort but wasn't able to get through and also email the general WC address and still havent heard anything.  Really would like to get more info from one of their coordinators.

I am looking at getting married there too and am also a little confused!!! Does anyone know if they adjust the packages for you based on the amount of guests? Or are they strict on the "additional guest" amount? I just don't get how they go from 34 to 75???

Yeah we were going to get married at the Melia but after adding everything up that we wanted to have (private reception, open bar, etc), we found it to be way too expensive (over $7000)... so now we are going with the Majestic Colonial... we will get the same sort of wedding as the Melia but it will be $2000 cheaper... (what got us in the end was our guest numbers... it would have been fine if we were under 24, but since we expect 40 or more, it quickly added up!) Best of luck with your planning!
