I just got engaged on Thanksgiving 2012, and my fiance and I are working with a travel agent to plan a destination wedding on May 17, 2014. Anyone had an experience with Moon Palace, good or bad?? I'm pretty sure this is the one we are going to go with.

I have been on several weddings at Moon Palace and I saw they know very well their business, very proffesional and friendly staff....very romantic touch when the bride arrives on a carriage pulled by a beautiful horse

Where is everyone having their ceremony? The beach just seems right for a destination wedding, but i chose a gazebo to have more of a dramatic entrance with the horse and carriage. Had anyone done a ballroom reception?

I got married in the Tucan gazebo and loved it. It's a lot more private than the beach and they also do up the gazebo with the colour combos you pick. I personally liked the Tucan because it's more private. When I was there in July (last month) the resort was in the process of redoing the rooms around the Bugambillias gazebo and it felt strange to be in that section. But that's just me.

I used the resort spa for makeup and hair. Basically, my then fiancé got ready in his room while I was at the spa for two hours and then I kicked him out when I got back and got ready. I think that having the bridal/groom suite is only available for morning, early afternoon weddings. I highly doubt the resort would give someone a room for a day that they can charge the full room rate for (ie check in is after 3).

Hi Lydia,

Do you think the rooms will be large enough for myself, 4 bridesmaids and my mom to get ready??

I found out, they do have a "Get-Ready-Room" option but it's $400!!!! Outrageous!

Thanks,

Lindsay

The rooms at the resort are quite large. Perhaps? $400 seems like a lot. Why don't you go to the resort, take a look at your room and make the decision then?

I did the same with the carriage; told the wedding coordinator I'd decide when I got there. Incidentally, I didn't use the carriage because my room was 20 feet from the gazebo where I got married!

I haven't heard of this get ready room, if it does have that much space I may have to invest in it, there will be a lot of us in the room. What is this getting ready room about @@llevasseur

I didn't get much detail from the off-site co-ordinator, but it's a room that you can book for the day for either the bride or groom to get ready in for $400 USD. I'm assuming it's more spacious than the regular room and of course wouldn't have a bed in it.

Great tip! Thanks Lydia.

I've booked the carriage but our wedding is on the other side of the resort. I made sure ;)

Our wedding was yesterday and to put it nicely we were not at all happy with how everything was coordinated and the fact that we were lied to by the coordinators. It was a disaster. From the priest to the decor company; everything was a mess. The only people that truly came through were the special effects company Promedsa which really helped us make the best of a shitty situation. Full review to come.
