That would be wonderful but unless you have smokers in your party, I wouldn't bother with the candles. We had absolutely no luck finding matches of any type at the shops or at reception. (We wanted to use wax to seal the sand in the case from our sand ceremony)

I actually packed my maracas the other night in my suitcase.  I wrapped every maraca up with tissue paper and put bubble wrap on the bottom of the suitcase.  All 50 maracas fit just fine and the suitcase is super light since the maracas don't weigh a lot I also packed some of my welcome bags in the same suitcase. I think I'll probably have 3 suitcases of decor/wedding extras. Ahh this is not going to be fun in the airport with so much luggage. lol

Congrats @@november15.

I had my wedding on the beach and loved it! I had always dreamed of getting married on the beach!

Tres Leche cake- we didn't each much but what we tasted it was delicious!

We called ours a rehersal dinner- so everyone wore nicer clothes they would wear to a rehersal dinner- dresses and button down shirts for the men.

I'm not certain about the football but I'm sure somewhere will show it!

I did not have a dj- i just rented the ipod hookup from PSAV for $200 and it worked great! They provide you with a tech in case something goes wrong!

I did not have a HIndu wedding, so sorry I am of no help there!

Feel free to PM me with any other questions.

Hi All,

I am about 3 months away from the Big Day and am finally getting around to securing all the details. With that said, I have some questions.  I would appreciate any insight you may have for any of the following.

-Did you have your ceremony on the beach?  Pros/Cons?

-What type of cake did you order?

-Any unique ice breakers for the welcome event?

-What dress code are you having for the welcome party?

-Is there a place to watch American College Football ?  Supposedly there are TVs in the Nizuc and Sunrise lobby bars, but how do I confirm they will show American channels.... I know I know, but my fiance and I are BIG football fans of our college team and so are much of guests.  It is the theme of our weekend..... Hoping we can having a 'viewing party' that weekend at a bar.

-Did you find it necessary to have the DJ?

We are having an Indian hindu wedding:

-Which priest did you have?  Did you have the local priest? What was your experience like?

-How was the indian food menu?  Did your guests enjoy it?

-Who was your henna artist? Did you have a henna party?  What did you do at the event?

-What events did you have daily?

Thanks all, and congrats to all of you ! :)  Anita

@@shellsal I went with an outside vendor and I'm using Discomovil.  He has great reviews, responds very quickly and the best prices.  He was cheaper than both JSAV and PSAV and I just liked his communication better so I decided to go with him even with the vendor fee he was cheaper than the resort DJ and I'm also getting lighting through him.  I actually bypassed the vendor fee by getting him a room night even cheaper than paying $800 vendor fee. There a lot of DJ's on this forum with great reviews he just communicated the best and beat out everyone's price.  Are you having a lot of guests?  Did you get a DJ?

I'm using Discomovil as well and am just curious how you were able to get around the outside vendor fee with the room stay. Did your wedding coordinator approve that you can get him a room in lieu of the fee? If so, this is awesome and I'm totally going to try it! It seems like some of the other outside vendors are easier to get around their fee with (bringing a photographer and having them stay, bringing in your own decor, etc) but I wasn't sure if there was really a way to get around it with the DJ since they are obviously coming in from the outside. I was actually starting to get worried it was going to be even more than the $800 fee since I noticed in one of the pamphlets that they also have a $250 electricity fee, not sure if that just applies to certain locations or what... Any extra information you have would be much appreciated!

When I went on my site visit last year I met my onsite wedding planner and had her email contact info so I asked my onsite wedding planner about booking one room night early on and she agreed to let me do one night to bypass the vendor fee.  But just today I saw on my final bill that my wedding coordinator (different person) added the $800 fee for my DJ and I already booked the room for my DJ and his assistant.  I actually just finished emailing my onsite planner today to get this fixed I'm sure she'll change it and if it does become a problem I will fight it because I saved every email where she assures me that one night will be fine. If you want to go around the vendor fee by booking one night try asking your wedding coordinator they might say yes or no I feel like it all depends on the person realy.  You'll get different answers from different people which is strange. Remember to save every email where they promise your something so that when its time to get your final bill you can fight certain things. I was also promised to only pay for 2 day passes for my photographers and when I first got my final bill they had charged me the vendor fee instead I reminded them that they said I could do 2 day passes and they quickly changed it.  Look at your charges very closely.
