How to remind guests to book their room

Recommended Posts

I'm in a similar situation and timeline.  We just reduced from 20 to 11 rooms.  We sent out the STDs in October. A reminder email in February and Formal paper invitations with response cards (with postage paid!) in mid-March.  I'm suprised by the lack of responses thinking, for sure, a guest can drop a pre-paid response envelope in the mail.  I guess I was wrong!  So frustrating...

The resort I booked only had limited rooms on the adult only section so I let my guest know that there's only limited space left and BOOM everyone started booking lol so maybe a little pressure ?!

Shellyanderic, we found a vendor on ETSY for passport wedding invitations called AprilTwentyFive. They are really nice and we think we are going to use them. We were going to try a DIY passport wedding invitation but my FI surprised my with samples and they look fantastic. You should check them out.
Shelly also check out Allurements by Rebecca. She is on etsy and is very on the ball. She is doing my passport invites!!!!
Thanks for the vendor suggestions. We decided to work with Allurements by Rebecca. She has been very quick and professional and we would highly recommend her for anyone looking for great looking passport invites. We just approved the final versions and they should be printed and sent to us within a week or so. We'll post photos of them once they arrive! :) We gave out our Save-the-Date's in October of 2012, and are mailing out our invites as soon as we get them, so everyone will have them by mid April with a July 15th RSVP. We figured that's enough time since our wedding is on November 15th. Hopefully everyone will be prompt and get right on booking, so we don't have any room deposit headaches, but judging from what everyone's saying, maybe we should expect a bit of last minute bookers.

I feel like people, at first, were so against my wedding, because it was so far, then they looked into it & were all for it! Now, 4 months away they're like "ohh I can't" "it's too expensive" yes i know how much it is, however you've had well over a year, plus some, & most of these people work in the food industry, where they can pick up extra shifts, do doubles, or stay later & make that quick cash. Some could babysit like they did before, so could work the OT at the hospital, some could get a 2nd job because they hardly work now! ugh it's so frustrating. especially because we put a huge chunk of change down for the room deposit & if we don't get the minimum we need, then everyone gets screwed with this discount!

I will be sending out Save the dates with all our resort/booking info this month. Hopefully everyone will be easy! But we also gave everyone more than year ahead to plan telling them verbally And sending our STD out a year ahead - which I agree is more than enough time to save :D

For my recent cousin's wedding, he ended up having to call most family members and get their yes/nos/bookings over the phone because no one sent back the RSVPs.

For that reason, I'm dreading handling RSVPs for mine. My family is the worst -- every vacation we have, me and my FI book way in advance, and then when everyone else eventually books their tickets, they're surprised how everything "suddenly" got so expensive. Every time.

I'm hoping a TA will be able to help with some of that, but I'm also considering just booking rooms on the cruise for certain family members because I don't want to leave it up to chance!
