How to remind guests to book their room

Recommended Posts

Yeah I'm getting to experience all of this too right now... I still have many outstanding RSVPs (deadline is September 9) and people seem to be avoiding giving an answer. Like, just a simple yes, or no now. And some outstanding replies are people who had destination weddings themselves so they of all people should know how important numbers are!!! And I am so sick and tired of hearing people say they just can't afford to go. Apparently 14 months notice isn't enough. And some of my favourite excuses are 'Sorry, getting a hot tub put in' and 'Sorry, we've decided to go to Cancun instead because it's cheaper.' By family too, of all people. *sigh*
The way that I see it, those who are genuinely happiest for u will come or be straight up about not coming... So don't stress about the no's.. Focus on making it an enjoyable experience for yourself and the yes answers... Excuses are just that... Excuses... I can't wait to get the excuses... Lol... Less expense for me girl..

that's the sad truth about having a DW. people think they are just going to a wedding. so they think it's expensive blah blah blah. i wish they could just look at it as their vacation as well...

In the end we had 58 guests attend our wedding, but the exact number was fluctuating until the very last minute.  I really wish people were more organized, but what can you do? :)

This kind of scares me i'm a planner so I would hate for everyone to be so last minute.  Uh I hope my guests are a little more organized and considerate so I can plan accordingly.

Yeah that's kind of difficult to estimate. I think you just have to maintain like a marging for last-minutes  guest, the only thing you can do!
such a hassle for these last minute guests! usually resorts ask you to give final head count and payment 45-60 days prior to the event.

Hi Ladies,

I am new to this post.  I sent out the STDs and a link to my wedding website in late May - about a year before my June 6, 2014 wedding date with a request to put down a $200 deposit for a double room within 30 days.  I had reserved a 15 room block and the deadline for charging my credit card for the deposit ($3000) was in 30 days.  I had 13 rooms booked before the deadline and now have 17 rooms booked with 42 people attending.

After reading what everyone else is going through, I'm starting to wonder if some people may back out before final payment is due in April 2014.  Has anyone else had the experience of guests not coming after they put down a deposit? confused.gif  Now, I'm getting scared to start buying stuff for the OOT bags.

Jenny, That's awesome you have so many people who committed that early! I really don't think that unless something awful happened like an injury or illness in family that anyone would back out after putting their deposit!? From my experience and what seems like alot of other brides the main problem are people saying they will come and not actually booking or booking last minute ! I am using luggage tags from Michaels as place cards for the reception and they come in boxes of 10 now I have 3 more people that decided to book so I had to run out to get another box of tags to my horror they are now discontinued! Lol I manage to get a bridesmaid to find one box in another city! Those darn last minute guests ;) so just make sure if u start making your OTT bags early to not make it with things that you may not find later if more guest book!
