After trying to call the Resort and Giselle several times and either being out on hold or disconnected and not having emails returned for 3-4 weeks I have decided not to have my wedding at the ILA, but would love to stay on this chat since you all have posted some really great info and ideas since we will still be having a destination wedding.

I chose another resort in Cuba for the very same reason.  I also didn't like it that ILA has more then 1 wedding per day...albiet it is such a gorgeous place!  I too will continue to chat for the great information and ideas :-)

But the price has gone up so much and you're right there isnt a lot off the resort to do, so for that reason we couldn't ask people to pay so much to hang out at the resort but if I lived in Ontario and could go for way cheaper then I think thats where I would do it.

When we were in Cuba, we loved it but the weather there is very unpridictable and it was freezing when we were there in February, but I do like all it has to offer including the safety factor with all the bad press in Mexico and such I didn;t want people to have that as a reason not to come, plus I dont think that a lot of people think about a holiday in Cuba I know that out of the people coming that do travel a lot haven't been to Cuba so this will be an experience for all!

Yeah the weather in Varadero isn't always great in January or February because its not as close to the equater... I know in Holguin where we are going it does tend to be warmer then Varadero. Yeah if I lived in Toronto too I'd probably go somewhere different but the prices for Cuba are just so cheap and I want to make it affordable for our guests as well. Ours should be under $1200 taxes in so I think thats pretty good from Halifax!

Lydia,

Does the Barcelo only do one wedding per day?

We really should actually change the name to Cuba Brides lol!

Ohhh I am excited I bought wooden plaques today at the dollar store to make Bride and Groom chair decorations! I am going to get some of the crackle paint to make it "antique" looking!!

This is a picture of what I am hoping it might look close to by the end!

Also, we our guests are only paying $1,032 pp, (incl tx) for garden view and $1,104 pp for oceanview...probably why we have 78 people (to date) going, lol

And by Barcelo I meant Blau! Wow thats such a good price!!! You guys must be leaving from Toronto if you're in Cobourg? I used to live in Trenton and loved going to Cobourg... isn't there a nice beach there?
