That's true. When compared to the dress, especially if it has beading on it, you can tell they're cheap. I'll try to find something on etsy, but even then it's hard to find something under $50

Yes! the one at David's Bridal I tried on was $130.

So $50 for a hair clip is still savings, hehe!

What are you planning to do with your hair? type of hair piece? veil?

I'm doing an updo because I think it will be the most comfortable in the heat and humidity and i just think it complements the dress better. I have a veil but i'll probably get a small hair clip to add some detail to the updo for then I take the veil off. I have really long hair though so my concern is where they're going to put it all hahah. I really like the half-up styles but I think it will be a mess by the end of the night.

Sounds great!

With long hair I would totally do an updo! A hair clip would definitely compliment your hair both with and without the veil.  Even if I tried to grow mine out, in the next 4 months I still wouldn't even be near my shoulders.  Right now my entire neck is free of hair.

I'll keep my eyes pealed for a hair clip for you Calgarybride! if you do see something you like that is in the states, we make Montana trips every now and then and I get stuff shipped to the border.  I could always grab it for you and meet you at Chinook or somewhere. Just an offer. I found that getting stuff I wanted from the states and shipped to the border was extremely cheaper and I didn't have to sacrifice getting what I wanted.

I'm all for updo's. I really really wanted to wear my hair down but it falls out so fast and I know it will look like crap and get sweaty hours later, so updo for this girl. My sister in law is doing photos for us a few days later since our ceremony is at sunset and we won't have enough time, so I will do my hair down for those ones. Updo's are so glamorous in my opinion and keep you from getting sweaty.

OH and PS. You do not even want to know what I paid for my veil.. UGHH. However, I will be using and abusing that thing.

Here is both a picture of my wedding dress and my TTD dress.   Yes I got two.  Only because we leave the very next morning after our TTD session and I'm afraid my actual gown won't be dry in time.  Plus I don't want to ruin it.

Wedding Gown:

My wedding gown is a Stella York,  style # 5986 in ivory.

I also posted a pic from their website which only shows champagne.

I am planning on adding a sheer/rhinestone belt to add more bling.  Plus will either wear or attach an underskirt to give some poof.

Its sweet-heart neck, lace/bead work with little bling to it.   Hard to see but the back neckline is actually lower, just hard to tell with the clips holding it on since these are pic's of me trying it on dress shopping.

TTD Dress:

My TTD dress is a sexy bohemian beach dress I purchased off DHgate for 50% off!  So, excited I fell in love with it when I seen it on pintrest.

Can't wait to wear them both!!!

@@Lia33 ok that makes sense. For me, even though I had never completely envisioned it I knew I wanted a bit of glam, like some beading or something like that. I wanted something that would make me feel a little bit sexy but sweet at the same time and romantic. When I tried on my dress it was all of those things, even though I didn't think I would be able to find them all in one dress. I realized I never really wanted a classic "DW gown" but I hadn't thought I would be able to find anything else. When I liked other dresses and they asked me if I was ready to buy them I always felt unsure, like I wasn't ready to commit to them but for this one I just knew it was the one. At first I did keep wondering "what if", but every time I'm more and more convinced that this dress is perfect for me and I really have no need to keep searching (I know this is actually a psychological phenomenon where you reframe things to be happier with your decision rather than wonder about other possibilities haha, but I'm ok with that ;))

Did you like the other dress better but you just didn't like the fact that it was champagne? Maybe try to find a very similar dress and only try that one on. If you like it more than your dress you might have your answer ;). Also, maybe wait a month or two, if you can, and keep trying yours on. If you still feel like it's not quite right then maybe it isn't!

@@A7Xtrish lovely dress! I had tried the same one on but I didn't like it on me. It looks gorgeous on you though ;)

@@TinkerSofi thank you!! Xox

@@calgarybride2015 Loved the hair pin!

@@misbosox - beautiful dresses!!

@@TinkerSofi - I'll be doing an undo as well. My hair is a little long, and frizzes, and I generally hate having it in my face lol After the wedding I plan on chopping my hair off.

  • 2 weeks later...

So the wedding is in 9 days and I'm starting to reconsider a second dress for the reception! Granted it will only be an hour of dancing, I'm going insane!! Help!?

I think if you only plan to wear it an hour save your money and just wear your dress. Get the money's worth out of that. Save that money and use it somewhere else :)
