I had tried on several dresses, when I finally decided on mine and had to choose a colour I tried on a similar version in white, not even realizing all the dresses I had tried on were off white or ivory.  I didn't even have the dress done up and I KNEW white was not for me!!! I was very tanned as we were several months into summer and STILL hated it.  I think you know what looks best on you and you are most comfortable in.  There is no right or wrong answer.  Head to the shop and try on a white and then an ivory dress.... you will get your answer VERY quickly!  Just about everyone I know or talk to knew right away what worked for them!  Be confident with your choice, I am sure Ivory was the right one if thats what you chose!

SAME HERE!!  Plus FI is wearing a white linen suit so I had to be as white or whiter than him.  I can't wait to try it on.  Mine comes in next month.

Personally, I'm a fan of white.  That being said, I'm olive skinned, I tan dark quickly, and we will be in Punta Cana for almost 4 days before the wedding.  So white will be suiting me...if you are fair at all, or don't tan dark, then ivory is definitely the way to go.  It's all personal preference too...

Good luck!!!!

This dress is beautiful! I did the same thing and did not regret it. I tried on dress after dress and in the end I chose a gown that was not a "wedding dress" per se, but completely worked as one. I love the one shoulder Grecian look on this Bill Levkoff one as well. As you can see, I loved that look so much that I had it on my own. Really good choice and go with your gut!

I say stick with the ivory. I ordered mine months ago and was having the same reservations. In my mind, "ivory" meant "yellow." I actually went back to the store and tried it on. Ivory is still white. It's just not diamond white. I also tried my dress on in diamond white, and it was soooo white! I thought it made me look...I don't know, fake? It might have just been my skin tone because I'm more olive-y, but I really liked the soft look of the ivory. :)

Sorry for double posting...

Everyone has such beautiful dresses, but I'm curious about TTD! I've seen a lot of people trash their actual dress while others buy a second dress. I'd really love to see some TTD pics from previous brides or some TTD dresses from upcoming brides. I started a thread if you want to post them there.

I have no idea what I'm going to do. I would love to be brave enough to trash my dress, but I just don't know if I can. It's too beautiful!!!!! love.gif

Hi Jwed12!!

I was having the same thoughts and reservations as you when I first bought my dress.  Here's what I have found out.  If your dress is a very chiffon-y, not silk or satin or (big) tulle dress, typically all of the salt and sand come out with a good dry-cleaning.  I actually found a thread on here about trashing the dress and it not being ruined after.  I was to the point I was looking for a second dress (just a white bridesmaid dress) to trash, then I ordered a second wedding dress, found that post and I'm going for it!!!!

If I can find that thread again, I will try to post it here for you to read into.

Good luck!!!
