what about mkaing a train ffrom extra fabric? similar to this Pronovias gown? though maybe it would compete with the shoulder... depends if you wanted the shoulder or the train.

Yes, the suggestion was that to make it look even more "bridal", I order it in an extra long length (I'm only 5-5) and, when they hem it, it would be shorter in the front and longer in the back, so that it had the appearance of a train.  I'm just not sure though about dragging it thru the sand all day...I never thought though if that scarf that hangs at the back may look funny with a train.  OR, perhaps if you order it extra long, that scarf will also be extra long and could be cut to the length of the hem at the back?

Gee, I'm wishing I would have asked this a couple of months ago, as you guys are such a knowledgeable and helpful bunch!  Does anyone know anything about this dress?  Who makes it, what it's called, if it's still available???

It's a stunning dress...did you try on both white and ivory, etc. dresses?  I didn't have the slightest idea which I would lean more towards, but having tried a few shades on, I knew white was best for me.

*Swoon* This is my dress :)

To be honest, I am not using the sash on the back - it snaps into the top of the bodice (on the back obviously).  It does have a puddle train, but like you I'm not sure I want it dragging through the sand... I really think you need to talk with a trusted, reliable seamstress to see if it can be done.  Sometimes what we want isn't always possible due to the cut of the dress.  It certainly sounds easy enough but definitely check with the shop/seamstress!!! Either way, its still gorgeous!

ya, not sure how they typically handle those things, but I'm sure a seamstress (or bridal salon rep) could advise. I think the scarf would accentuate the back and maybe not require any type of train to match. or layering both might look nice as well (and with a veil, too). decisions, decisions... ; )

also, a bustle is added to nearly every type of train so you don't have to worry about dragging it through the sand during the reception. they keep trying to push me toward the under-bustle (mine is a simple dress like yours), but I prefer the side-swept one. only issue is that requires a noticeable hook-type closure added to the dress. again, a seamstress will be able to advise, just know you won't be stuck dragging it around all night if you do opt for a train.
