First Time Massage

So I'm going for my first massage today at a spa. I'm really nervous and already I want to cancel it even though I've already rescheduled it twice. I guess I just don't know what to expect. Any tips?

I LOVE getting massages! Don't be nervous. Most masseuses (sp?) will have you get undressed in a room by yourself and you can leave on whatever you feel comfortable with. Then when you lay down, they cover you with a sheet or towel and expose only the part of the body that they are working on. I almost always fall asleep and get mad at myself because I'm missing it...lol! Just try to relax, you will love it!

You will be in heaven! I am not sure why you are hesitant, but you can specify if there are certain areas you want them to concentrate on or avoid, etc. Have your head massaged - that feels great! You will love it and be so relaxed afterwards. You'll question why you had never been before. Enjoy it!!! I am so jealous . . .

I'm not the type of person to pamper myself very often, but for our wedding (on our wedding day) DH and I went for a couples massage first thing in the morning, it was great, fantastic, and so relaxing. You'll enjoy it.

Oh! Don't be nervous...It's going to be great! I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting massages! I can see how you might feel a little nervous about the undressing part...but honestly it's not so bad. They keep you covered up except what they're working on at the moment. And it feels so great you won't even care after a minute!

 

The only advice I can think of is to just relax and be honest. If you want more or less pressure or anything ....just say so. They just want you to be comfortable.

I heart massages... I try to go as often as financially possible (which right now is never, hehe)... I just want to echo what everyone else said - if it hurts make sure you say something, if it's not enough or he/she missed a muscle - say so! Also, feel free to request a girl/guy depending on what you are most comfortable with. I remember my first time I had a guy because I didn't want to seem rude and say no and it was def a source of tension to an otherwise heavenly experience

I am in school for massage and in a few short months will be a full blown therapist!! I get a massage, from students, twice a week. You can leave on your underwear if you want then they won't work on your gluets but trust me--it feels great. I was a bit nervous at first to get undressed and lay on a table in front of 12 people but you forget you are naked ( under a sheet) after they start massaging you. ENJOY IT!!

I say cancel the appointment again. After your first time, there is no turning back. You will keep scheduling appointments and your bank account will take a huge hit and it is just a downward spiral from there!

 

Just kidding. Massages are awesome and I wish I could go more often! You will love it!! Have fun and just relax.
